Parkhall College
Parkhall Integrated College is an integrated co-educational non-selective secondary school in Antrim, County Antrim, Northern Ireland. There are 1,100 students aged between 11 and 18, that is in Year 8 to Year 14. Context Integrated Education is a Northern Ireland phenomenon, where traditionally schools were sectarian, either run as Catholic schools or Protestant schools. On as parental request, a school could apply to 'transition' to become Grant Maintained offering 30% of the school places to students from the minority community. Lagan College was the first integrated school to open in 1981. Facilities The college re-located from two sites to a single modern facility in 2018. There is a wide range of indoor and outdoor sporting facilities. There is also a youth and community wing. Activities In the 2012 London Olympics torch relay the Principal's secretary carried the torch through Antrim. Antrim ( ga, Aontroim , meaning 'lone ridge') is a town and civil parish in County Antrim in the northeast of Northern Ireland, on the banks of the Six Mile Water, on the northeast shore of Lough Neagh. It had a population of 23,375 people in the 2011 Census. It is the county town of County Antrim and was the administrative centre of Antrim Borough Council. It is northwest of Belfast. Kenneth Wilfred Baker, Baron Baker of Dorking, (born 3 November 1934) is a British politician, a former Conservative Member of Parliament and cabinet minister, including holding the offices of Home Secretary, Education Secretary and Conservative Party Chairman. Lagan College
Lagan College is an integrated secondary school in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It holds a total of around 1540 students. It was formed in 1981 as the first integrated school in Northern Ireland and contains students of mainly Roman Catholic and Protestant faiths, however students from other faiths also attend the school. The school is situated on National Trust land, overlooking Belfast. It is named after the River Lagan, which flows through the city. It is one of Northern Ireland's most oversubscribed secondary schools.
