Parker Ito
Parker Ito (born 1986) is a contemporary artist. He is fourth generation Japanese American, or Yonsei, living and working in Los Angeles. Life Parker Ito was born in 1986 in Long Beach, California, and was raised there. When Ito was younger, he acted and sang on television. Before becoming a professional artist, he aspired to become a professional skateboarder and held a job painting oil derricks in Los Angeles. Art practice Ito creates paintings, sculptures and video works by drawing upon his experience online as both artist and audience. In promotion for Ito's residency at MGM Resorts in Las Vegas, art critic and curator Nicolas Bourriaud wrote of Ito's work, “The works of ... Parker Ito have no origin, no source code. Yonsei (Japanese Diaspora)
is a Japanese diasporic term used in countries, particularly in North America and in Latin America, to specify the great-grandchildren of Japanese immigrants (Issei). The children of Issei are Nisei (the second generation). Sansei are the third generation, and their offspring are Yonsei. For the majority of Yonsei in the Western hemisphere, their Issei ancestors emigrated from Japan between the 1880s and 1924. Petra Cortright (born 1986) is an American artist working in video, painting, and digital media. Biography Petra Cortright was born in 1986 in Santa Barbara, California. Cortright is the daughter of two artists; her father who died when she was four, Steven Cortright, was a sculptor/printmaker and art professor at UC Santa Barbara, and her mother is a painter. She studied at California College of the Arts in San Francisco (2004) and Parsons The New School for Design in New York (2008). She lives and works in Los Angeles, California. Post-Internet
Post-Internet is a 21st century art movement involving works that are derived from the Internet or its effects on aesthetics, culture and society. Definition Post-Internet is a loosely-defined term that was coined by artist/curator Marisa Olson in an attempt to describe her practice. It emerged from mid-2000s discussions about Internet art by Gene McHugh (author of a blog titled "Post-Internet"), and Artie Vierkant (artist, and creator of ''Image Object'' sculpture series). The movement itself grew out of Internet Art (or Net Art). Henry Art Gallery
The Henry Art Gallery ("The Henry") is a contemporary art museum located on the University of Washington campus in Seattle, Washington. Located on the west edge of the university's campus along 15th Avenue N.E. in the University District, it was founded in February, 1927, and was the first public art museum in the state of Washington. The original building was designed by Bebb and Gould. It was expanded in 1997 to , at which time the 154-seat auditorium was added.
