Ski mountaineering (abbreviated to skimo) is a skiing discipline that involves climbing mountains either on skis or carrying them, depending on the steepness of the ascent, and then descending on skis. Asian Championships of Ski Mountaineering as multinational ski mountaineering competitions for participants of the Asian continent have been held since 2007. The 2007 Asian Championship was organized by the Japan Mountaineering Association (JMA), and was sanctioned by the International Council for Ski Mountaineering Competitions (ISMC). The second edition followed in China two years later, in 2009, after the Asia Ski Mountaineering Federation (ASMF) was born. The 2012 Asian Championship of Ski Mountaineering ( ko, 아시아 산악스키 선수권대회) was the third edition of an Asian Championship of Ski Mountaineering, and the second official sanctioned by the International Ski Mountaineering Federation (ISMF), The event was organized by the Korea Alpine Federation, and was held at the South Korean Yongpyong Ski Resort in the Gangwon Province from February 18 to 19, 2012. Results Event was held on April February 19, 2012. It was only an individual race offered as at the 2007 edition. The 2009 Asian Championship of Ski Mountaineering () was the second edition of an Asian Championships of Ski Mountaineering, Asian Championship of Ski Mountaineering. The event was organized by the Asia Ski Mountaineering Federation (ASMF), and was the first officially sanctioned Asian Championship by the new International Ski Mountaineering Federation (ISMF), which emerged from the ISMC in 2008. At this edition a vertical race and a relay race was added. So that the few female ski mountaineers could also participate in the relay race event, the teams were mixed with at least one female racer. The championship was held at the Beidahu, Jilin, Beidahu ski ressort in the China, Chinese Nagano Prefecture from February 10 to February 13, 2009. A ski is a narrow strip of semi-rigid material worn underfoot to glide over snow. Substantially longer than wide and characteristically employed in pairs, skis are attached to ski boots with ski bindings, with either a free, lockable, or partially secured heel. Gwak Mi-hee ( ko, 곽미희; born May 10, 1974) is a South Korean cross-country mountain biker and ski mountaineer, who has won all individual races of all Asian Championships of Ski Mountaineering since the first edition. Gwak was born in Yesan, and lives in Seoul. She started cycling in 1997, and became a member of the national team in 2001. A Vertical Race is a special kind of ski mountaineering without the typical downhill skiing after ascending. At the mountain running and climbing passages the runners have to carry their skis in their backpacks. Vertical Races for women and men are part of all international ski mountaineering competitions of the International Council for Ski Mountaineering Competitions (ISMC) as well as at many national competitions. Eiger
The Eiger () is a mountain of the Bernese Alps, overlooking Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen in the Bernese Oberland of Switzerland, just north of the main watershed and border with Valais. It is the easternmost peak of a ridge crest that extends across the Mönch to the Jungfrau at , constituting one of the most emblematic sights of the Swiss Alps. The Grandes Jorasses (4,208 m; 13,806 ft) is a mountain in the Mont Blanc massif, on the boundary between Haute-Savoie in France and Aosta Valley in Italy. Mount Hunter (Alaska)
Mount Hunter or Begguya is a mountain in Denali National Park in Alaska. It is approximately south of Denali, the highest peak in North America. "Begguya" means child (of Denali) in the Dena'ina language. Mount Hunter is the third-highest major peak in the Alaska Range.
