Park Hill School District
The Park Hill School District encompasses most of southern Platte County, Missouri, in the Northland region of the Kansas City Metropolitan Area. There are eight cities and towns that are partly or entirely within the district boundaries, including Parkville, Riverside, Weatherby Lake, Platte Woods, Lake Waukomis, Houston Lake, Northmoor and Kansas City, Missouri. The district serves almost 12,000 students and has about 73 square miles of area. Platte County is a county located in the northwestern portion of the U.S. state of Missouri and is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. As of the 2020 census, the population was 106,718. Its county seat is Platte City. The county was organized December 31, 1838, from the Platte Purchase, named for the Platte River. Parkville is a city in Platte County, Missouri, United States and is a part of the Kansas City Metropolitan Area. The population was 7,177 at the 2020 census (2021 est, 7,810). Riverside, Missouri
Riverside is a city in Platte County, Missouri and is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area within the United States. The population was 2,937 at the 2010 census. History Riverside lies on the edge of the Missouri River and was formally incorporated in 1951. For many years, the town was known for its Riverside Race Track. The Riverside Park Jockey Club operated from 1928 to 1937 and was popularly called “Pendergast Track” after its patron, big city boss Tom Pendergast (although Pendergast was not officially on its organization papers). The horse racing track was on the site of a former dog racing track. The track operated under a questionable legal basis. Northmoor, Missouri
Northmoor is a city in Platte County, Missouri and is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area within the United States. The population was 325 at the 2010 census. History A post office called Northmoor was established in 1927, and remained in operation until 1947. The community's name is an amalgamation of Moore, the name of a first settler, and "north", a directional name relative to the community's location from Kansas City. On May 4, 2003 an F4 tornado ripped through the town, destroying several homes and causing extensive damage to the police station and to City Hall. Park Hill High School
Park Hill High School is one of two high schools in the Park Hill School District, in Kansas City. The school is located in northern Kansas City, in Platte County. Park Hill's teams are called the Trojans, and its colours are red and white. Park Hill High School had an enrollment of 1,919 students in 2016-2017. History The original school building opened in 1952 and the current building opened in 1967. The original building became Park Hill Junior High and later Plaza Middle School, the district's 6th grade school. Plaza is now a 6-8 grade middle school. In the late 1990s a new gymnasium was built on the west side of the building to replace the original gym, which is now used primarily for practices and school dances.
