Paris District High School
Paris District High School (PDHS) is a regional high school in Paris, Ontario, Canada. The school was built in 1923, replacing the previous grammar school which had been built in 1858, and was known officially as Paris High School until a large addition was constructed in the late 1960s. In 2004, PDHS served students from Paris and other towns found in the immediate area, including St. George, Drumbo, Burford, Princeton and Glen Morris. Paris, Ontario
Paris (2021 population, 14,956) is a community located in the County of Brant, Ontario, Canada. It lies just northwest from the city of Brantford at the spot where the Nith River empties into the Grand River. Paris was voted "the Prettiest Little Town in Canada" by ''Harrowsmith'' Magazine. The town was established in 1850. In 1999, its town government was amalgamated into that of the County of Brant, ending 149 years as a separate incorporated municipality, with Paris as the largest population centre in the county. History Paris was named for the nearby deposits of gypsum, used to make plaster of Paris. This material was discovered in 1793 while the area was being surveyed for the British Home Department. By late 1794 a road had been built from what is now Dundas, Ontario, to the east bank of the Grand River in what became Paris, called The Governor's Road (now Dundas St. in Paris). Wayne Douglas Gretzky ( ; born January 26, 1961) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player and former head coach. He played 20 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for four teams from 1979 to 1999. Jake Dotchin
Jake Dotchin (born March 24, 1994) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman who is currently playing with Rytíři Kladno in the Czech Extraliga (ELH). Dotchin was selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the sixth round (161st overall) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. Early life Dotchin grew up in Glen Morris, to the south of Cambridge, Ontario. He started playing house league hockey in Ayr and moved on to AAA level in Cambridge. Playing career Junior During three seasons in the OHL with the Owen Sound Attack and the Barrie Colts, Dotchin earned 18 goals and 59 assist for 77 points, along with 279 penalty minutes, in 193 games. Dotchin was drafted by the Owen Sound Attack in the 4th round, 70th overall, in the 2010 OHL Draft. Zac Dalpe (born November 1, 1989) is a Canadian professional ice hockey centre who currently plays for the Charlotte Checkers in the American Hockey League (AHL) while under contract to the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League (NHL). Drafted 45th overall by the Carolina Hurricanes in 2008, Dalpe played in the British Columbia Hockey League and Central Collegiate Hockey Association before turning professional. Linda Schuyler
Linda Schuyler, (; née Bawcutt; born February 12, 1948) is a Canadian television producer. She is best known for being the co-creator and producer of the ''Degrassi'' teen drama franchise, which has spanned five series over four decades. She is a co-founder of Playing With Time, Inc. (with Kit Hood), and of Epitome Pictures (with Stephen Stohn), the production companies involved with the franchise over its 40-year-long history respectively. Born in London, Schuyler immigrated to Canada with her family in the 1950s. As a school teacher, she began creating short films, and formed a creative partnership with television commercial editor Kit Hood. In 1979, Schuyler purchased the rights to adapt the Kay Chorao book ''Ida Makes A Movie'' into a film, of which ultimately became the genesis of ''Degrassi''. Ted Reader is a Canadian chef and author of several cookbooks. Biography Reader is from Paris, Ontario, and is a graduate of George Brown College's culinary management program. Beginning his career in local restaurants, he eventually became executive chef at the Skydome Hotel at Rogers Centre in Toronto. He later held a five-year tenure as executive chef of President's Choice.
