The Park Luigi Zanzi is an urban park of Varese, in Italy, located in the neighbourhood of Schiranna, on the shore of Lake Varese. History The park was created in the 1960s for the work of the Autonomous Living of Varese, whose president was Luigi Zanzi. Just at the behest of the latter, the park was created by reclaiming the area. His successor, Giulio Nidoli, enhanced and improved it in 1970, the year in which it is purchased by the city of Varese. The population of Varese in 2018 has reached 80,559. It is the capital of the Province of Varese. The hinterland or exurban part of the city is called ''Varesotto''. Geography The city of Varese lies at the foot of Sacro Monte di Varese, part of the Campo dei Fiori mountain range, that hosts an astronomical observatory, as well as the Prealpino Geophysical Centre. The village which is in the middle of the mountain is called Santa Maria del Monte because of the medieval sanctuary, which is reached through the avenue of the chapels of the Sacred Mountain. Varese Lake ( it, Lago di Varese) is a lake of glacial origin in Lombardy, in the north of Italy. It has an area of 14.5 km², a medium depth of 11 m, and a maximum depth of 23 m. It hosted the Canoeing European Championships in 2012, the World Rowing Master Regatta in 2013, the World Rowing Under 23 Championships in 2014,the second Canoeing World Championship in 2015 and the World Rowing Under 23 / Under 19 Championships in 2022. Formation The birth of Lake Varese dates back to about 15,000 years ago, at the same time as that of nearby Lake Maggiore, when the retreat of the Verbano glacier created the large basin in which the city and its lake are located today, which at the time had a much larger surface and included much of the surrounding lakes. Luigi Zanzi
is a fictional character featured in video games and related media released by Nintendo. Created by Japanese video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto, Luigi is portrayed as the younger fraternal twin brother and sidekick of Mario, Nintendo's mascot.
