Kendall Gretsch
Kendall Gretsch (born April 2, 1992) is an American triathlete, biathlete and cross-country skier. She was born with spina bifida. She has competed in both Summer Paralympics and Winter Paralympics and has a unique distinction of winning gold medals in both Summer Paralympics and Winter Paralympics. Education Gretsch studied at Washington University in St. Louis where she earned a degree in Bio Medical Engineering. She was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. Career 2018 Winter Paralympics Gretsch made her Paralympic debut at the 2018 Winter Paralympics and created history in her maiden Paralympic appearance after claiming a gold medal in the women's 6km sitting biathlon event. Lauren Parker
Lauren Parker (born 15 December 1988) is an Australian para-triathlete and para-cyclist. She won a silver medal at the 2020 Summer Paralympics. She has won multiple World Triathlon Championships in Women's PTWC. Personal life Parker was born on 15 December 1988 in Belmont, New South Wales. She lives in Newcastle, New South Wales. Paratriathlon Before having to transition to paratriathlon as a result of a serious training accident in April 2017, Parker was a successful triathlete. She took up triathlon at the age of 18 after being a successful junior swimmer. At the 2015 Ironman World Championship in Kona she finished second in the Women's 25–29 Age Group. The training accident left Parker with a punctured lung, broken ribs, shoulder blade and pelvis, and damaged spinal cord. She spent six months in hospital and spinal rehabilitation unit. Paratriathlon At The 2020 Summer Paralympics
Paratriathlon at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan, took place at the Odaiba Marine Park. It was the second time that paratriathlon was be scheduled in the Paralympics. Eight events were contested (four events for men and women each); two more events than previously contested at the 2016 Summer Paralympics. The race course consisted of a 750m swim, 20 km bike ride and 5 km run, the swimming part of the race took place at the Odaiba Bay while the cycling and running courses traveled through the West Promenade district of Odaiba, featuring waterfalls and public gardens. The 2020 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games were postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They kept the 2020 name and were held from 24 August to 5 September 2021. Paratriathlon Classification
Paratriathlon classification is the classification system for athletes participating in paratriathlon. It is governed by the World Triathlon (formerly known as ITU) The sport has been included in the 2016 Summer Paralympics. Classification system from 2017 World Triathlon has implemented some modifications to the classification system that was introduced in 2014 after further research was conducted to address certain aspects of the previous system. The research project is an ongoing project for both physical and vision impairments.
