Paralowie
Paralowie is a suburb in the north of Adelaide, South Australia, 21.4 km north of the Adelaide city centre. It is predominantly a residential suburb. History Settlement of the area dates from the late 19th century, with land used predominantly for market gardens and farms. Significant development did not occur until the post World War II years. Rapid growth occurred from the 1980s through to the mid-1990s. Burton, South Australia
Burton is a small residential suburb approximately 21 kilometres north of the CBD of Adelaide, South Australia. It is located five km north-west of Salisbury in the flat terrain of the Adelaide Plains. The suburb contains two wetland reserves, including Kaurna Park. History The Kaurna, an Aboriginal Australian people, occupied the land of Burton and surrounding Adelaide Plains area prior to European settlement. The first Methodist chapel (also used as a schoolroom) was built in the Burton area in 1858. School Burton Primary (R-7) is a local school which opened in 1990. Parafield Gardens, South Australia
Parafield Gardens is a suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. The suburb is largely residential, with a pocket of industrial land in the southwest corner. There are two small shopping centres in the area, one on Salisbury Highway, and another on Sheperdson Road. History Kaurna people occupied the land now called Parafield Gardens prior to European settlement. An Aboriginal heritage site within the Greenfield Industrial Estate indicates that Aboriginal settlement may have existed in the area for thousands of years. Parafield Gardens was originally a subdivision of section 2258 of the Hundred of Yatala enclosing land south of the Little Para River and Kings Road and northeast of today's Salisbury Highway. Salisbury North is a suburb in the City of Salisbury, part of the greater Adelaide conurbation in South Australia. It was built by the South Australian Housing Trust on a greenfield site in the early 1950s, mainly to house employees of the nearby Long Range Weapons Establishment. Bolivar is an outer northern suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. It is located in the City of Salisbury. History The suburb was established in 1956, and was named after the ''General Bolivar Hotel''. This hotel had been built by Walter Walpole, a settler who had arrived in South Australia in 1850 on the sailing ship ''Bolivar''. Bolivar Post Office in the then rural area opened on 1 July 1905 and closed in 1930.
