Paradise (1991 Film)
''Paradise'' is a 1991 Drama (film and television), drama film written and directed by Mary Agnes Donoghue. The original music score is composed by David Newman (composer), David Newman. Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson (at the time married to each other) play Lily and Ben Reed, a young couple torn apart by a family tragedy. It would take a miracle to rekindle their love and a miracle arrives in the form of a summer guest - Willard Young (Elijah Wood). It is a remake of the French film ''Le Grand Chemin'' by Jean-Loup Hubert. Plot Willard Young is a 10-year-old boy who is sent by his mother to stay with her best friend Lily Reed, who lives in the Delta shrimp-fishing country in a town called Paradise. At that town, Willard meets 9-year-old Billie Pike. Despite Billie being a troublemaker, she becomes friends with Willard. Mary Agnes Donoghue
Mary Agnes Donoghue (26 March 1943 in Queens) is an American screenwriter and director. Following early jobs as a secretary and short story writer, Donoghue's first writing credit was the 1984 film ''The Buddy System''. She went on to pen the screenplays for ''Beaches'' (1988) and ''Paradise'' (1991), which was also her directorial debut. Donoghue co-wrote and co-produced ''Deceived'' (1991) and two year later, her first play, ''Me and Mamie O'Rourke'', made its debut at the Strand Theatre in London. In the 2000s, Donoghue wrote the screenplay for ''White Oleander'' (2002) and co-wrote ''Veronica Guerin'' (2003) with Carol Doyle. In 2013, Donoghue wrote and directed ''Jenny's Wedding''. Early and personal life Donoghue was born in Queens, New York City. Before becoming a screenwriter, she worked various secretarial jobs. Donoghue was also a short story writer and poet. Louise Latham
Louise Latham (September 23, 1922 – February 12, 2018) was an American actress, perhaps best known for her portrayal of Bernice Edgar in Alfred Hitchcock's 1964 film ''Marnie''. Early years Latham came from Hamilton, Texas. She was from a family of ranchers, "mostly around San Saba and Mason Counties in Texas." She graduated from Dallas' Sunset High School. Latham was a Democrat who donated over $500 to the Friends of Lois Capps in the 2000 election. Career Television Most of Latham's work was on television.
