Parade (TV Series)
''Parade'' is a Canadian music variety television series which aired on CBC Television from 1959 to 1964. Premise ''Parade'' was created as an open-format entertainment series which covered most music styles and included comedy performances. Sometimes an episode would focus on one particular performer, while another episode could feature various entertainers under a particular theme. The series featured Canadian artists such as the Canadian Opera Company, Maynard Ferguson, Oscar Peterson, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and the Billy Van Four. Featured international performers included Ernestine Anderson, Pete Seeger and Jonathan Winters. Wayne and Shuster provided their interpretation of James Thurber's ''Many Moons'' in a 1963 episode. The "Sing, Sing, Sing" episodes of ''Parade'' were recurring occasions which featured Pat Hervey and the Gino Silvi Singers leading a sing-along, supplemented by dance performances from a troupe choreographed by Alan Lund supported by an orc ... ''Many Moons'' is a children's picture book written by James Thurber and illustrated by Louis Slobodkin. Queen's University at Kingston, commonly known as Queen's University or simply Queen's, is a public research university in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Queen's holds more than of land throughout Ontario and owns Herstmonceux Castle in East Sussex, England. Queen's is organized into eight faculties and schools. Bert Niosi
Bert Niosi (February 10, 1909 – August 3, 1987) was a Canadian bandleader, known as "Canada's King of Swing". Early life Niosi was born on February 10, 1909, in London, Ontario. "As a teenager he briefly played clarinet with Guy Lombardo in Cleveland." Niosi had two brothers who also became musicians: Joe and Johnnie. Later life and career Niosi was proficient on several instruments: clarinet, flute, saxophone, trombone, and trumpet. He formed a dance band in 1931. This began a long association with the Palais Royale dance hall in Toronto, which lasted until 1950. Here, he earned the nickname 'Canada's King of Swing'. Alan Lund
Alan Lund, OC (May 23, 1925 – July 1, 1992) was a Canadian dancer and choreographer, who worked in television, movies and theatre. Lund trained as a dancer in his native Toronto, Ontario and first established a performance reputation as a dance team with his wife Blanche, appearing during World War II in the revue ''Meet the Navy''. The couple became two of the first contract players for CBC Television. Turning to choreography in the 1950s, Lund contributed to various productions, including ''Spring Thaw'', the Canadian National Exhibition grandstand show, and the Stratford Festival. From 1966 to 1986 he was artistic director of the Charlottetown Festival, where he directed the successful musical, ''Anne of Green Gables'', and several other productions.
