Paolo Rosario Farrugia
Paolo Rosario Farrugia (22 August 1836 – 21 December 1907) was a Maltese prelate who became the Auxiliary Bishop of Malta in 1907. Biography Ruzar Farrugia was born in Xagħra, Gozo, Malta on 22 August 1836. He was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Malta on 17 December 1859 at the age of 23. Forty eight years later Pope Pius X appointed Farrugia as the Auxiliary Bishop of Malta in order to assist Bishop Pietro Pace. He was given the titular see of Hamatha. Farrugia was consecrated by the Spanish cardinal Rafael Merry del Val Rafael Merry del Val y Zulueta, (10 October 1865 – 26 February 1930) was a Spanish Roman Catholic cardinal. Rafael Merry Del Val
Rafael Merry del Val y Zulueta, (10 October 1865 – 26 February 1930) was a Spanish Roman Catholic cardinal. Before becoming a cardinal, he served as the secretary of the papal conclave of 1903 that elected Pope Pius X, who is said to have accepted his election through Merry del Val's encouragement. Pius X later appointed him as the Cardinal Secretary of State. Merry del Val's writings and example prompted greater popularity for the Litany of Humility, which was for some decades incorrectly attributed to him. He was greatly responsible to restoring the privileges to Hispanic countries, which honor him for the devotions and traditionalist practices he fostered by personally signing and executing their petitions to the Holy Office. A cause for his canonization was opened in 1953 at the behest of Pope Pius XII. He now has the title Servant of God. Xagħra
Xagħra ( mt, Ix-Xagħra) is an administrative unit of Malta, on the island of Gozo. It is one of the earliest inhabited parts of Gozo, being home to the Ġgantija megalithic temples which date back to the year 3600BC and the Xagħra Stone Circle. Natural underground features such as Xerri's Grotto and Ninu's Cave can be found in this town, along with Calypso's Cave which overlooks the red sandy beach of Ramla. Sir Pietro Pace (9 April 1831 – 29 July 1914) was a senior-ranking Maltese prelate who served as the Titular Archbishop of Rhodes and Bishop of Malta from 1889 until his death in 1914. Biography Archbishop Pace was born in Rabat (later renamed Victoria) on Gozo on 9 April 1831 and was baptised on the same day in St George's Basilica. He was ordained a priest in 1853 and was consecrated as the third Bishop of Gozo in the Basilica of San Carlo al Corso in Rome by the English prelate, Edward Henry Cardinal Howard, on 8 April 1877.
