Pantomime Quiz
''Pantomime Quiz'', initially titled ''Pantomime Quiz Time'' and later ''Stump the Stars'', was an American television game show produced and hosted by Mike Stokey. Running from 1947—1959, it has the distinction of being one of the few television series—along with ''The Arthur Murray Party''; ''Down You Go''; ''The Ernie Kovacs Show'', ''The Original Amateur Hour''; and ''Tom Corbett, Space Cadet''—to air on all four TV networks in the US during the Golden Age of Television. Overview Based on the parlor game of Charades, ''Pantomime Quiz'' was first broadcast locally in Los Angeles from November 13, 1947, to 1949. Walter Slezak (; 3 May 1902 – 21 April 1983) was an Austrian-born film and stage actor active between 1922 and 1976. He mainly appeared in German films before migrating to the United States in 1930 and performing in numerous Hollywood productions. James Newton Russell AM MBE (26 March 1909 – 15 August 2001) was an Australian cartoonist who drew '' The Potts'' for 62 years. Jim's brother Dan Russell was also a cartoonist. ATN is the Sydney Flagship (broadcasting), flagship television station of the Seven Network in Australia. The licence, issued to a company named Amalgamated Television Services, a subsidiary of Fairfax Media, John Fairfax & Sons, was one of the first four licences (two in Sydney, two in Melbourne) to be issued for commercial television stations in Australia. It began broadcasting on 2 December 1956. The station formed an affiliation with GTV (Australian TV station), GTV-9 Melbourne in 1957, in order to share content. In 1963, Frank Packer ended up owning both GTV-9 and TCN, TCN-9, so as a result the stations switched their previous affiliations. GTV is a commercial television station in Melbourne, Australia, owned by the Nine Network. The station is currently based at studios at 717 Bourke Street, Docklands. History GTV-9 was amongst the first television stations to begin regular transmission in Australia. Test transmissions began on 27 September 1956, introduced by former 3DB radio announcer Geoff Corke, based at the Mount Dandenong transmitter, as the studios in Richmond were not yet ready. The station covered the 1956 Summer Olympics which Melbourne hosted., the 1956 Carols By Candlelight and the Davis Cup tennis as part of its test transmissions. The station was officially opened on 19 January 1957 by Victorian Governor Sir Dallas Brooks from the studios in Bendigo Street, Richmond.
