Pantera Sureña
Lidia Hortencia Rangel Ávalos (born December 29, 1955) is a Mexican former professional wrestler, more commonly known under the ring name Pantera Sureña (Spanish for "Southern Panther"). She has also worked as the '' enmascarada'' ("masked") wrestling characters La Galáctica, La Galáctica 2000, Lady Discovery and Lady Metal during her career. Her career began in 1969 and stretched until 2008 where she worked her last match. As Pantera Sureña, Rangel started her career as a ''luchadora enmascarada'', but lost her mask to Lola González in 1977. Her stints as La Galáctica, La Galáctica 2000, Lady Discovery and Lady Metal were all under a mask and only confirmed to be Rangel later in her career. In her almost 40-year career she has won the Distrito Federal Women's Championship, the UWA World Women's Championship, and the Mexican National Women's Tag Team Championship with Martha Villalobos in Mexico, as well as the WWWA World Singles Championship in Japan. Vicki Williams (born April 21, 1956) is a retired female professional wrestler. She held the NWA Women's World Tag Team Championship three times with Joyce Grable. Professional wrestling career During a match in June 1971, midget wrestler Darlin Dagmar teamed with Williams to defeat midget wrestler Diamond Lil and Ann Casey. The following year, Williams was a contender to The Fabulous Moolah's NWA World Women's Championship, facing her for the title in Baltimore in May 1972. In August, Moolah once again defeated Williams—with the title on the line—at the first Superbowl of Wrestling event. The team of Williams and Joyce Grable won the NWA Women's World Tag Team Championship from Donna Christanello and Toni Rose on October 15, 1973 in New York City. Antonio Peña Promotions, S.A. de C.V. d/b/a Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide is a Mexican Lucha Libre (professional wrestling) promotion based in Mexico City, Mexico. Commonly referred to as simply AAA (pronounced "triple A"; an abbreviation of its original name Asistencia Asesoría y Administración, Spanish for "Assistance, Assessment, and Administration"), the promotion was founded in 1992 when Antonio Peña broke away from Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) to set up a promotion, which allowed him more creative freedom. Maricela Neftaly Gallegos Gonzalez (born November 5, 1970) is a Mexican former '' luchadora'' (or female professional wrestler), known under the ring name Neftaly, sometimes spelled Neftali. Over the years, Neftaly worked for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre, Universal Wrestling Association and AAA in Mexico and for Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling, JDStar, W*ING and Big Japan Pro Wrestling in Japan. Neftaly formed a trios team, ''Las Nasty Girls'', with La Briosa and La Monstra. Neftaly and La Briosa won the Mexican National Women's Tag Team Championship in 1996 and held it for 653 days. La Briosa (Spanish for The Verve One) is the ring name of a semi-retired Mexican ''luchadora'', or female professional wrestler who was primarily active from the mid-1970s until 2000. She is a second-generation wrestler, daughter of Sugi Sito, and together with her husband, a wrestler known under the names El Mexicano and Halcón 78. Together they have three sons that have followed in their footsteps and also become wrestlers, known as Halcón 78 Jr., Hammer Fist and Combat. La Briosa is the cousin of wrestlers Pánico, El Jabato, and Black Cat, and the aunt of Skándalo and Stigma. She has only worked a small number of matches since 2000. Elvia Fragoso Alonso (born January 13, 1964) is a Mexican former professional wrestler, known by her ringname Zuleyma, who competed in the Universal Wrestling Association and the World Wrestling Association as one of the most dominant '' luchadoras'' in Mexico during the 1980s and early 1990s. She is the real-life older sister of ''luchadora'' Miss Janeth, whom she helped train, and the wife of Kato Kung Lee, Jr., son of veteran ''rudo'' Kato Kung Lee. A wrestling mask is a fabric-based mask that some professional wrestlers wear as part of their in-ring persona or gimmick. Professional wrestlers have been using masks as far back as 1915 and they are still widely used today, especially in Lucha Libre in Mexico. History At the 1865 World's Fair, Theobaud Bauer debuted the mask, wrestling as "The Masked Wrestler" in Paris, France. He continued wrestling using the mask throughout France as part of a circus troupe in the 1860s before moving on to the United States in the early 1870s. In 1915, Mort Henderson started wrestling as the "Masked Marvel" in the New York area making him the first North American wrestler to perform with such a gimmick.
