The Panama women's national football team is overseen by the Federación Panameña de Fútbol. After a 12 year absence, the team will return to the CONCACAF Women's Championship in 2018 after finishing second in Central American Football Union, UNCAF zone qualifying. History 2000s In 2002 Panama qualified for the 2002 CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup, CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup for the first time after securing one of two spots in Central American Zone qualifying. They went 1–0–2 at the 2002 CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup and did not qualify for the knockout round. Panama once again qualified for the CONCACAF Women's Championship, Women's Gold Cup in 2006 CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup, 2006 after winning their qualifying group. Yenith Elizabett Bailey de la Cruz (born 29 March 2001) is a Panamanian footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Paraguayan club Libertad/ Limpeño and the Panama women's national team. International career Bailey appeared in three matches for Panama at the 2018 CONCACAF Women's Championship, making 24 saves. She won the tournament's Golden Glove award and was named to its Best XI. Previously a midfielder, she was converted to goalkeeper by head coach Victor Suárez only a year before the tournament. Panama ended up fourth, advancing to a playoff against CONMEBOL side Argentina for a place in the 2019 Women's World Cup. Football At The 2017 Central American Games
The football tournament at the 2017 Central American Games is scheduled to take place in December 2017. The tournament will act as a qualifying tournament for the Central American nations for the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games. Three teams will qualify from the men's tournament, two teams will qualify from the women's tournament. The men's tournament will be restricted to those born after 1 January 1997 and the women's tournament will have no age restrictions. The 2014 CONCACAF Women's Championship, the ninth edition of the CONCACAF Women's Championship/Gold Cup/Women's World Cup qualifying tournament, was a women's soccer tournament that took place in the United States between 15 and 26 October 2014.
