Panama International Piano Competition
The Panama International Piano Competition is held at the Teatro Nacional in Panama City every two years. It was established in 2004 by Jaime and Nelly Ingram. The 7th Competition is scheduled to take place in October 2016. Award winners receive cash prizes. Additional special prizes are available for the best performance of one of the first two Sonatas composed by Alberto Ginastera Alberto Evaristo Ginastera (; April 11, 1916June 25, 1983) was an Argentinian composer of classical music. Ralph Votapek (born 1939 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin) is an American pianist notable for winning the First Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 1962; thinaugural competition's First Place prizewas $10,000. He is the Jury Chairman of th2022 (EIGHTH) Cliburn International Amateur Piano Competition From the age of nine, he studied music at the Wisconsin Conservatory in Milwaukee, as well as Northwestern University, Manhattan, and Juilliard. Marianna Prjevalskaya (born 1982 in Chişinău) is a Russian concert pianist and a naturalized Spanish citizen, having settled in A Coruña in 1992. Education Born to a musical family, Prjevalskaya benefited from early lessons with her mother, Tatianna, her principal mentor for more than eleven years, from age six. She continued her studies at the Royal College of Music in London with Irina Zaritskaya and Kevin Kenner. Olivier Gardon is a French classical pianist and piano teacher born on 29 January 1950 in Nice, France. Early life The seven year old prodigy had come to the attention of the Hungarian pianist Lili Kraus, who had strongly encouraged him to pursue a career in music. When he first performed with an orchestra at the Opéra de Nice playing Bach's piano Concerto in D Minor, he was only ten years old. Ann Schein Carlyss is an American pianist. Life and career Schein spent her early years in Evanston, Illinois, but she moved to Washington D.C. when she was 4. Warren Milton Thomson OAM (2 August 193519 February 2015) was an Australian pianist, piano competition juror, music editor, and music educator. He was best known in Australia as artistic director and chairman of the jury of the Sydney International Piano Competition after Rex Hobcroft. He auditioned all entrants, selected the competitors, and chose the repertoire and the other jurors. He was the artistic director of the Yamaha Australian Youth Piano Competition since its inception in 1994. Warren Thomson was educated at Wesley College, Melbourne and the University of Melbourne, where he studied under Roy Shepherd, a pupil of Alfred Cortot. Elías López Sobá
Elías López Sobá (born in 1927) is a Puerto Rican classical music pianist and educator. Together with musical director Justino Diaz, Elias López Sobá has been co-directing the annual Casals Festival since 2010. Some sources considered him one of the most outstanding pianists and instrumentalists in 20th century Puerto Rico. Early years López-Sobá was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, in 1927. Training López-Sobá attended the Longy School of Music in Massachusetts, graduating in 1951. He also studied at the Bennington College of the University of Vermont, where he graduated with a Master of Arts. Ramzi Yassa ( ar, رمزى يسى; born 1948) is an Egyptian pianist. Born in Cairo, Yassa is an outstanding member of the first batch of musicians trained at the Cairo Conservatory.
