Pan Shih-wei
Pan Shih-wei (; born 27 July 1955) is a Taiwanese politician. He was the Minister of the Council of Labor Affairs from 28 September 2012 and subsequently the Minister of Labor from 17 February 2014 until his resignation on 24 July 2014. Education Pan obtained his bachelor's degree in political science from Tunghai University and master's degree in labor studies from Chinese Culture University. He continued his graduate study in the United States, obtaining master's and doctoral degrees in industrial and labor relations from Cornell University. Political career During the 2008 ROC Presidential Election, Pan wrote the labor policy for Ma Ying-jeou and Vincent Siew ticket of the Kuomintang. 2008 Republic Of China Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in Taiwan on 22 March 2008. Kuomintang (KMT) nominee Ma Ying-jeou won with 58% of the vote, ending eight years of Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) rule. Along with the 2008 legislative election, Ma's landslide victory brought the Kuomintang back to power in the Republic of China. This was the fourth direct election for the President of the Republic of China. The two candidates were Democratic Progressive Party candidate Frank Hsieh and Kuomintang (KMT) nominee Ma Ying-jeou. The KMT ticket was officially formed as of June 23, 2007, with Ma announcing his choice for running mate to be former premier Vincent Siew. Vincent C. Siew or Siew Wan-chang (; born 3 January 1939) is a Taiwanese politician who served as the Vice President of the Republic of China (Taiwan) from 2008 to 2012. He was the first Taiwanese-born Premier of the Republic of China and former vice-chairman of the Kuomintang (KMT). Early life Born in Chiayi City in the then Taiwan under Japanese control, Japanese colony of Taiwan on 3 January 1939, Siew graduated from Chiayi High School in 1957. Ma Ying-jeou ( zh, 馬英九, born 13 July 1950) is a Hong Kong-born Taiwanese politician who served as president of the Republic of China from 2008 to 2016. Previously, he served as justice minister from 1993 to 1996 and mayor of Taipei from 1998 to 2006. He served as chairman of the Kuomintang (KMT) from 2005 to 2007 and from 2009 to 2014.
