Palooka From Paducah
''Palooka from Paducah'' is a 1935 American short comedy film featuring Buster Keaton. Plot The struggling Diltz family of farmers decide to set up their own wrestling company as a way to generate money. The father of the family (Joe Keaton) gets his son Jim (Buster Keaton) to help him train his brother Elmer (Robinson) up to be the best wrestler he can be. They hold an open challenge at their first event for anyone to step up and face Dewey, which is answered by established wrestler Bullfrog Kraus (Montana). Before the match, the father appoints Jim as the referee to ensure that Elmer is not seriously hurt. Kraus dominates the fight and hits Jim and his mother (Myra Keaton) out of spite. This makes Elmer angry who is able to make a comeback and sends Kraus crashing through the ring to win the match. Charles Lamont
Charles Lamont (May 5, 1895 – September 11, 1993) was a prolific filmmaker, directing over 200 titles and producing and writing many others. He directed several Abbott and Costello comedies and many Ma and Pa Kettle films. Biography A California native, Lamont was born in San Francisco. Lamont came from a family of actors, being the fourth generation to be an actor. He appeared onstage while a teenager and started appearing in films from 1919. He worked as a prop man before becoming assistant director. Lamont started directing comedy shorts in 1922, including for Mack Sennett and Al Christie. Some of Lamont's earliest directorial jobs were silent short-subject comedies for Educational Pictures. Joseph Hallie Keaton (July 6, 1867 – January 13, 1946) was an American vaudeville performer and silent film actor. He was the father of actor Buster Keaton and appeared with his son in several films. Life and career Keaton was born a few miles south of Terre Haute, Indiana, to Libbie Jane and Joseph Francis Keaton IV. Leaving home in 1889, the year of the Land Rush, he homesteaded in the Oklahoma territory for a time, securing a claim three and a half miles northwest of Edmond. Myra Edith Keaton (née Cutler; March 13, 1877 – July 21, 1955) was an American vaudeville performer and film actress. She was the mother of actor Buster Keaton. Lewis Montagna (born Luigi Montagna; May 16, 1887 – January 24, 1950), better known as Bull Montana, was an Italian-American professional wrestler, boxer and actor. Biography Born in Voghera, Italy, into a poor country family — and at a time when Italy was a predominantly rural country — with limited prospects, at 19 years old, Montagna made the decision to move to the United States.
