Palmi (; scn, label= Reggino, Parmi; la, Palmae) is a ''comune'' (municipality) of about 19,303 inhabitants in the province of Reggio Calabria in Calabria. It is seat of the district, which includes 33 municipalities in the plain of Palmi, with a population of approximately 170,000 inhabitants. With the nearby beaches of Marina di Palmi and Lido di Palmi, overlooking the Violet coast, the city is a major seaside resort thanks to its landscape, which has led writers and poets to call it the "terrace on the Strait of Messina". Topias Palmi (born August 26, 1994) is a Finnish professional basketball player who last played for Limburg United of the BNXT League. A 194 cm tall guard, Palmi last played for Vanoli Cremona of the LBA. In 2013 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship Division B game against Luxembourg, Palmi scored 60 points and broke the old record of any Finnish national basketball team with 17 points margin. Pálmi Rafn Pálmason (born 9 November 1984) is an Icelandic footballer who is currently playing for KR in the Icelandic Premier Division. Before that he played in Iceland for Völsungur, KA and Valur, where he was a key player in the team that won the 2007 Úrvalsdeild, Valur's first league title in 20 years. Pálmi Gestsson (born 2 October 1957) is an Icelandic actor and voice actor. He is known for the long-running Icelandic sketch group ''Spaugstofan'' which he co-created. Among his voice acting is the Icelandic voice of Shere Khan in ''The Jungle Book''. Early life Pálmi was born in 1957 in Bolungarvík, the Westfjords, Iceland. Career Pálmi graduated from the Icelandic Drama School in 1982. He has been working with the National Theatre of Iceland since 1983. Pálmi Hannesson
Pálmi Hannesson (3 January 1898, in Skagafjarðarsýsla – 22 November 1956) was an Icelandic naturalist and rector of the Menntaskólinn í Reykjavík. Pálmi was born a farmer's son; studied in Akureyri before proceeding to the Lærði Skólinn in Reykjavík; and on graduating from there proceeded to the University of Copenhagen to study natural history and geography. He concluded his education in 1926 with a Master's degree in zoology. As well as being prominent among Icelandic students at Copenhagen, he was also an alderman of the Studentergården and was noted for his fluency in Danish. Pálmi Gunnarsson (born 29 September 1950) is an Icelandic musician, who was involved in some of the country's most popular musical acts in the 1970s and into the 1980s, including Mannakorn and Brunaliðið. He is perhaps best known internationally as a member of ICY, the trio that performed "Gleðibankinn", Iceland's first ever entry in the Eurovision Song Contest, in 1986. In a career that has lasted over four decades, Pálmi has played with many bands across many genres, and enjoys enduring popularity around Iceland, often with songs written by his longtime collaborator Magnús Eiríksson.
