Pallacanestro Forlì 2.015, also known as simply Forlì, is an Italian basketball club based in Forlì. Established in 2015, it plays its home games at the PalaGalassi, Unieuro Arena. The club currently plays in the Serie A2 Basket, the second tier league of Italy. History The club was established in May 2015 to fill up the gap which was left after Fulgor Libertas Forlì was dissolved. Forlì 2.015 started playing in the Serie B Basket, Italy's third tier league. In its first season, Unieuro Forli won the Italian LNP Cup, Serie B LNP Cup after defeating Eurobasket Roma in the final.6 In the same season, Forlì managed to promote to the Serie A2 Basket. Serie A2, known for sponsorship reasons as Serie A2 Old Wild West, is a men's basketball league in Italy. It constitutes the second-tier of the Italian league pyramid, below the first division LBA and above the third division Serie B, with promotion/relegation occurring between these leagues. It is run by the Lega Nazionale Pallacanestro (LNP), itself regulated by the FIP, the Italian federation. Names History The league was created in May 1974, by the Lega Basket, the organisation in charge of running the LBA (to this day), that decided to create a new second division with 10 clubs. The two that were relegated during that season, and 8 from the now-former second tier Serie B, chosen with an on and off the court criteria. PalaGalassi, also called Unieuro Arena for sponsorship reasons, is an indoor arena located in Forlì, Italy. The capacity of the arena is 5,676 people for basketball matches. It is home of the Pallacanestro Forlì 2.015 of the Serie A2 Basket and the volleyball team Volley Forlì. History It was opened on March 29, 1987, for the basketball match between Libertas Forlì and Viola Reggio Calabria. Here was played the finals of basketball Coppa Italia of LBA in 1990, 1992, 1993 and all the events between 2001 and 2006. In 2009 it hosted the volleyball Final Four of Coppa Italia. Antimo Martino (born 16 August 1978) is an Italian basketball coach, currently managing Pallacanestro Forlì 2.015 in the Lega Serie A2. He has also served as the head coach for Fortitudo Bologna. Career Antimo Martino started his coach-career with Virtus Roma as assistant coach from 2005 to 2014. He became head-coach for the first time with Basket Ravenna in the Serie A2 league in 2014 and the following 4 seasons. Martino had a big success with Ravenna reaching the A2 Playoffs' semifinals of the 2016–17 season. In 2018 he reached the final of the Italian LNP Cup. Fulgor Libertas Forlì was an Italian professional basketball team based in Forlì, Emilia-Romagna, Italy. The club ceased operating in January 2015 due to financial problems. History Fulgor Forlì was founded in 1949 by Stefano Cozzi. It reached the national Serie C by the 1954-55 season, returning to the Promozione in 1957.
