Palimpsest (album)
''Palimpsest'' is the fifth studio album by Canadian progressive metal band Protest the Hero released on June 18, 2020 through Spinefarm Records. Palimpsest marks the band's first studio record since 2013's '' Volition'', and their first new material since 2016's ''Pacific Myth'' EP. This is the first studio album (and second overall release) of the band to feature session member Cam McLellan on bass and full-time member Mike Ieradi on drums. Background Talking about the recording process of ''Palimpsest'', Guitarist Luke Hoskin explained, "'Palimpsest' is by far the most challenging record we have worked on. Todd Kowalski
Todd "The Rod" Kowalski (born May 27, 1973) is a Canadian bassist and singer, currently a member of hardcore punk band Propagandhi. Along with his band, he lives a vegan lifestyle and supports animal rights. Career In the early 1990s, Kowalski was the frontman of I Spy, a hardcore punk band from Regina, originally called Klump. He and the band moved to Winnipeg in 1994. They recorded a split CD/10" with Propagandhi. I Spy played together until the summer of 1996, when they decided to call it quits. In 1996 Kowalski joined a band called Swallowing Shit who released a 7" record and an Anthology Cd. Kowalski joined Propagandhi in 1997 and also played bass for J Church on their 1997 Japanese tour. Piano
The piano is a stringed keyboard instrument in which the strings are struck by wooden hammers that are coated with a softer material (modern hammers are covered with dense wool felt; some early pianos used leather). Electric Guitar
An electric guitar is a guitar that requires external amplification in order to be heard at typical performance volumes, unlike a standard acoustic guitar (however combinations of the two - a semi-acoustic guitar and an electric acoustic guitar exist). It uses one or more pickups to convert the vibration of its strings into electrical signals, which ultimately are reproduced as sound by loudspeakers. Scurrilous
''Scurrilous'' is the third studio album by Canadian progressive metal band Protest the Hero. It was released on March 22, 2011. The word ''scurrilous'' is defined as "vulgar verbal abuse; foul-mouthed; coarse, vulgar, abusive, or slanderous." It is the last album released under Protest the Hero's original lineup, due to the departure of drummer Moe Carlson and bassist Arif Mirabdolbaghi two years later. Overview Recording for Scurrilous began on August 30, 2010. Walker stated on his Twitter page on that day: "it has begun" and also on his Facebook page on the 31st that "It is underway", both in reference to the band's next full-length album recording. ''Fortress'' is the second studio album by Canadian band Protest the Hero which was released on January 29, 2008 on Vagrant Records in the US and Underground Operations in Canada. Overview ''Fortress'' was recorded at Silo Studios in Hamilton, Ontario during the summer of 2007. The album contains 10 tracks broken into three movements, separated by piano interludes, and is approximately 41 minutes in length. The band has stated that the sound is similar to '' Kezia'' but with a "less poppy and more technical metal" influence.
