Palace Theatre, Newark
The Palace Theatre is a 20th century Neo-Byzantine style theatre located in Newark-on-Trent, United Kingdom. Architecture Its Neo-Byzantine style was, at the time, considered exotic, up-marketed and fashionable. The main theatre's entrance façade follows the angle of the road junction, being divided into two bays by shafts with domed pinnacles rising several feet above the parapet. Ample foyer and refreshment room includes a big entrance with detailed wooden doors. The second floors has more detail. Three windows with Neo-classic details in-between them. The facade seems to be supported with 2 Arab-style minarets. The stage tower has a mansard roof. Between the windows and the entrance the main sign of the theatre is held. The Palace Theatre (also known as The Palace) was an entertainment venue located in Melbourne, Australia. First built for live theatre in 1912, it was also used as a cinema and for live music. It was demolished except for its facade in 2020 after much community opposition, to be replaced by a hotel. The Palace Theatre is a historic building located at 125 Jimmy Davis Boulevard in Jonesboro, Louisiana. Built before 1924 as a brick building, it was remodelled with a stucco facade and in 1929. Palace Theater (Gary, Indiana)
The Palace Theater is a 1925 movie theater, now closed, located at 791 Broadway in Gary, Indiana, in the city's Emerson neighborhood. It was designed by the prominent movie palace architect John Eberson. History The Palace Theater was built by Maximillian Dubois' construction company "Max and Sons", who also built the Marquette Park Pavilion in Gary. Construction began in 1924 and the theater opened a year later featuring live stage shows, vaudeville acts, and motion pictures. From the time it opened, the theater was one of the grandest venues in the town, but when the US Steel plant in Gary went into decline, so did the rest of the town, including the historic theater. The theater slid into decline, and eventually shut down entirely in 1972. The abandoned theater has since come to be a common symbol of urban decay, and is a frequent subject of photography and urban exploration.
