''Palace Hotel'' (German: ''Palast Hotel'') is a 1952 Swiss-West German drama film directed by Emil Berna and Leonard Steckel and starring Paul Hubschmid, Käthe Gold and Anne-Marie Blanc.Bock & Bergfelder p.252 It was made at the Bellerive Studios in Zurich. The film's sets were designed by the art director Jean d'Eaubonne. Emil Berna (2 April 1907 – 16 October 2000) was a Swiss cinematographer. He also co-directed one film, the 1952 drama '' Palace Hotel''. For several decades Berna was employed on almost all the major Swiss film productions. Lukas Ammann (29 September 1912 – 3 May 2017) was a Swiss actor who appeared mainly in German and Swiss films and television shows. He continued to work steadily for over 60 years. He is best known for his title role in the German television series ''Graf Yoster''. Early life Lukas Amann's mother was a singer and his father a painter. After he saw Schiller's ''The Robbers'' at grammar school in Basel, he aspired to be an actor. Starting in 1933 he attended the acting school of Max Reinhardt in Berlin. Lys Assia (born Rosa Mina Schärer; 3 March 1924 – 24 March 2018) was a Swiss singer who won the first Eurovision Song Contest in 1956. Assia was born in Rupperswil, Aargau, and began her stage career as a dancer, but changed to singing in 1940 after successfully standing in for a female singer.
