Pain Teens
Pain Teens was an experimental noise rock band formed in Houston, Texas in 1985 by Scott Ayers and Bliss Blood. The band used tape manipulation, digital delays, sampling, tape cut-ups and other effects in their music. They also included guitar, violin, marimba, saxophone, percussion, and many other musical instruments. Beginning in 1987, Pain Teens released nine cassette tapes and two LPs on their own Anomie Records label, all of which went out of print. Soon after, they released four LPs for Trance Syndicate Records, an Austin, Texas label run by King Coffey of the band Butthole Surfers. Helios Creed
Barry Johnson (born on November 3, 1953), known professionally as Helios Creed, is an American guitarist, singer and bandleader. He first came to prominence in the mid-1970s with the San Francisco band Chrome, who were considered an early influence on industrial rock. Chrome broke up in the mid-1980s when founding member Damon Edge moved to Paris. Helios then recruited some local hard rock musicians and launched a solo career. Early life Creed was born Barry Johnson in Long Beach, California, and moved to Hawaii when he was six. His brother, two years older, introduced him to psychedelic music. When he was 12, his parents bought him his first guitar, and he became a serious student of the instrument immediately. Creed has said that he invented his trademark sound while trying to replicate the sound he heard in his head while "listening to Black Sabbath on LSD on headphones when I was a teenager". Walking Timebombs
Scott Ayers is an American musician, best known as the guitarist and keyboardist for the noise rock band Pain Teens based in Houston, Texas. He has also released solo albums under the moniker Walking Timebombs and is involved with bands local to Texas, including Anarchitex, Exterminating Angels and Geltab. History Scott Ayers began playing guitar at the age of thirteen. He was initially inspired after hearing ''Are You Experienced'' by The Jimi Hendrix Experience and later became interested in the compositions and musicianship of Robert Fripp and Brian Eno. As an adult, he studied anthropology at the University of Houston. After Pain Teens disbanded in 1995, Ayers began issuing music under the name Walking Timebombs. Crust (band)
Crust was a musical group from Austin, Texas that was active during the late-1980s and 1990s and was featured on Trance Syndicate Records, a record label run by King Coffey from the Butthole Surfers. The group's members were John Hawkins (vocals and misc.), Jerry Page (bass and misc.), and Richard Smith (percussion and misc.). History John Hawkins, Jerry Page, and Richard Smith formed the group in 1987. Shortly after its formation, the trio (as "Mud Honey") organized and released a compilation cassette, ''The Polyp Explodes''. Along with Crust, the cassette featured the Austin bands Miracle Room, Ed Hall, ST37, Seemen, and Thanatopsis Throne.
