''Survivor: Borneo'', originally known simply as ''Survivor'' or ''Survivor: Pulau Tiga'', is the first season of the American CBS competitive reality television series ''Survivor''. The show was filmed from March 13 through April 20, 2000, and premiered on May 31, 2000. The season started with 16 participants tasked with being left to survive in a remote area in Borneo, Malaysia, with minimal tools and supplies. Hosted by Jeff Probst, it consisted of 39 days with consecutive participants being removed by a majority vote. The series was set in the South China Sea on the remote Malaysian island of Pulau Tiga in the state of Sabah, about off the north coast of Borneo. Richard Holman Hatch Jr. (born April 8, 1961) is an American former reality television contestant. In 2000, he became the first '' Survivor'' winner in its debut season, originally broadcast on CBS. He subsequently competed in '' All-Stars'' season of ''Survivor'', the fourth celebrity edition of ''Celebrity Apprentice'', and season 17 of ''The Biggest Loser''. He was convicted with three counts related to attempted tax evasion and fraudulent tax return in January 2006. He served his fifty-one months and then, after failing to amend his 2000 and 2001 tax returns, additional nine months in prison. ''Survivor'' is a British competition television series based on the international Survivor (franchise), reality franchise of the same name. The series aired for two series on ITV (TV network), ITV network in 2001 and 2002, before being revived in 2023 by BBC One, BBC. Following the premise of other versions of the format, the show features a group of contestants become castaways as they are marooned in an isolated location, where they must provide food, water, fire, and shelter for themselves. Rudolph Ernst Boesch ( ; January 20, 1928 – November 1, 2019) was a United States Navy SEAL, and two-time competitor on the reality competition show '' Survivor''. Born and raised in Rochester, New York, Boesch enlisted in the United States Navy at age 17. He became an Underwater Demolition Team (UDT) Frogman in 1951, serving on two UDT Teams. He was chosen as one of the first SEALs, becoming chief of the boat of newly created SEAL Team TWO in 1962. White-bellied Sea Eagle
The white-bellied sea eagle (''Haliaeetus leucogaster''), also known as the white-breasted sea eagle, is a large diurnal bird of prey in the family Accipitridae. Originally described by Johann Friedrich Gmelin in 1788, it is closely related to Sanford's sea eagle of the Solomon Islands, and the two are considered a superspecies. A distinctive bird, the adult white-bellied sea eagle has a white head, breast, under-wing coverts and tail.
