Paget Parish, Bermuda
Paget Parish is one of the nine parishes of Bermuda. It is named for William Paget, 4th Baron Paget de Beaudesert (1572–1629). The parish is located in the central south of the island chain, immediately south of Hamilton Harbor on the main island. It is joined to Warwick Parish in the southwest, and Devonshire Parish in the northeast. As with most of Bermuda's parishes, it covers just over 2.3 square miles (about 6.0 km2 or 1500 acres). It had a population of 5,899 in 2016. Jade Hannah
Jade Hannah (born 24 January 2002) is a Canadian swimmer. She competed at the 2017 World Junior Swimming Championships in Indianapolis where she was part of a Canadian team that set the junior world record and championship record in the girl's 4×100 m medley. Career In the 2017 World Junior Swimming Championships, Hannah won four medals at the world junior championships, including three gold and one bronze. She was the reigning junior co-world champion in the 50 m backstroke and won a bronze in the 100 m backstroke. Hannah added to her world junior medal haul when she added two golds at the 2019 World Junior Swimming Championships in the 100 m and 200 m backstroke, as well as a silver in the 50 m backstroke. William Gilbert Gosling
William Gilbert Gosling (September 8, 1863 – November 5, 1930) was a politician, businessman and author. From 1916 to 1920, he served as the mayor of St. John's, Newfoundland. Early life William Gilbert Gosling was born in Paget Parish, Bermuda to Charles Gray Gosling and Elizabeth Gilbert. The second of their six sons, Gosling attended Pembroke Grammar School in Hamilton, Bermuda. On June 22, 1881, he moved to St. John's, Newfoundland (now a province of Canada) to work as a clerk for the fish exporting firm Harvey and Company. Brian Duperreault
Brian Charles Duperreault (born May 8, 1947) is a Bermuda-born American executive in the insurance industry. He is executive chairman and former CEO of American International Group. Duperreault's entire career has been in the insurance industry, beginning in 1973 as an actuary at AIG. He quickly rose through the ranks to become one of AIG's most senior executives, eventually heading all of AIG's international operations. He was regarded as a likely successor to CEO Hank Greenberg, but as Greenberg showed no signs of retiring Duperreault left AIG in 1994 to head ACE Limited, a boutique specialty-insurance company based in Bermuda. Flora Duffy
Dame Flora Jane Duffy (born 30 September 1987) is a Bermuda, Bermudian triathlete. She won a gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Bermuda's first gold medal. She also competed in the Olympics in Beijing, London, and Rio de Janeiro. In 2018, she won gold in the women's triathlon at the XXI Commonwealth Games in Australia. She also won gold in the same event at the XXII Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022. Hinson's Island, Bermuda
Hinson's Island is a small island within the Great Sound of Bermuda. It lies in the southeast of the sound, and is part of Paget parish, although it was formerly part of Warwick Parish and is still within the Warwick North constituency. Hinson's Island is the only island in Bermuda served by the government ferry system. The population of Hinson's Island is approximately 50 people. Elbow Beach is one of the most popular beaches on the main island of Bermuda. Coral Beach, Bermuda
Corals are marine invertebrates within the class Anthozoa of the phylum Cnidaria. They typically form compact colonies of many identical individual polyps. Coral species include the important reef builders that inhabit tropical oceans and secrete calcium carbonate to form a hard skeleton. A coral "group" is a colony of very many genetically identical polyps. Each polyp is a sac-like animal typically only a few millimeters in diameter and a few centimeters in height. A set of tentacles surround a central mouth opening. Each polyp excretes an exoskeleton near the base. Over many generations, the colony thus creates a skeleton characteristic of the species which can measure up to several meters in size. Individual colonies grow by asexual reproduction of polyps. The Royal Gazette (Bermuda)
''The Royal Gazette'' is a Bermudian, English-language daily newspaper. Founded in 1828, it is Bermuda's only daily newspaper (not published on Sundays and public holidays). History The first issues of The Royal Gazette, Bermuda Commercial and General Advertiser and Recorder were published in January 1828. The company bore no relation to an earlier publication named the Bermuda Gazette and Weekly Advertiser founded by Joseph Stockdale in 1782 nor an earlier Royal Gazette founded by Mr Edmund Ward in 1809. Its founder Donald MacPhee Lee, an immigrant to Bermuda from Prince Edward Island in Canada, served as editor until his death in 1883, whereupon it was operated by his son and later his daughter.
