Padova railway station, or Padua railway station ( it, Stazione di Padova), sometimes referred to as ''Padova Centrale'', is the main station serving the city and ''comune'' of Padua, in the Veneto region, northeastern Italy. Opened in 1842, the station forms part of the Milan–Venice railway, and is a junction for direct branch lines to Bologna, Bassano del Grappa and Camposampiero (junction for the line to Calalzo). Padova railway station is also the terminus of a short goods line to Padova Interporto. The station is currently managed by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI). However, the commercial area of the passenger building is managed by Centostazioni. Each of these companies is a subsidiary of Ferrovie dello Stato (FS), Italy's state-owned rail company. The Barcelona Metro (Catalan and Spanish: ) is an extensive network of rapid transit electrified railway lines that run mostly underground in central Barcelona and into the city's suburbs. It is part of the larger public transport system of Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia, Spain, with unified fares under the (ATM) scheme. Milano Centrale ( it, Stazione Milano Centrale) is the main railway station of the city of Milan, Italy, and is the largest railway station in Europe by volume. The station is a terminus and located at the northern end of central Milan. It was officially inaugurated in 1931 to replace the old central station (built 1864), which was a transit station but with a limited number of tracks and space, so could not handle the increased traffic caused by the opening of the Simplon Tunnel in 1906. Como San Giovanni railway station ( it, Stazione di Como San Giovanni) is the main station serving the city and ''comune'' of Como, in the region of Lombardy, northern Italy. Opened in 1875, it forms part of the Milan–Chiasso railway, and is also a terminus of the Como–Lecco railway, which branches off the main line a few kilometres (miles) to the south, at Albate-Camerlata. Como San Giovanni is the last Italian station on the line to Chiasso, and therefore fulfils the functions of a border station. It is the third busiest station in Italy for passenger flow after Rome Termini and Milan Central, with about 192,000 journeys per day and 70 million travellers a year and a total of about 350 trains per day.
