Paddy Stapleton
Patrick Stapleton (born 3 August 1985) is an Irish hurler who played as a right corner-back for the Tipperary senior team from 2006 until 2016. Stapleton made his first appearance for the team during the 2007 Waterford Crystal Cup. During that time he won two All-Ireland winners' medals and six Munster winners' medals. At club level, Stapleton is a three-time North Tipperary medalist with Borris–Ileigh. He had the honour of captaining the side to victory over Nenagh Éire Óg in the 2017 decider. Playing career Club Stapleton plays his club hurling with the Borris–Ileigh club and has enjoyed some success. After enjoying little success at underage levels, he graduated onto the senior team where he won North Tipperary county titles in 2005, 2007, and 2017. All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship 2010
The 2010 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 114th staging of Ireland's premier hurling competition since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1887. A total of thirteen teams competed in the championship, with Tipperary unseating the four-time defending champions Kilkenny by 4-17 to 1-18 in the final at Croke Park, Dublin. Munster Senior Club Hurling Championship
The Munster Senior Club Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the AIB Munster GAA Hurling Senior Club Championship) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1964 for the champion hurling teams in the province of Munster in Ireland. The series of games are played during the autumn and winter months with the Munster final currently being played in November. The prize for the winning team is the O'Neill Cup. The championship has always been played on a straight knockout basis whereby once a team loses they are eliminated from the championship. Underdog (term)
An underdog is a person or group in a competition, usually in sports and creative works, who is largely expected to lose. The party, team, or individual expected to win is called the favorite or top dog. In the case where an underdog wins, the outcome is an upset. An "underdog bet" is a bet on the underdog or outsider for which the odds are generally higher. Noel McGrath (hurler)
Noel McGrath (born 17 December 1990) is an Irish hurler who plays for Tipperary Senior Championship club Loughmore-Castleiney and at inter-county level with the Tipperary senior hurling team. He usually lines out as at midfield. Playing career Our Lady's Secondary School McGrath first came to prominence as a hurler with Our Lady's Secondary School in Templemore. Lar Corbett
Laurence Corbett (born 16 March 1981) is an Irish former hurler who played for Tipperary Championship club Thurles Sarsfields. He played for the Tipperary senior hurling team for 15 years, during which time he usually lined out as a left corner-forward. Noted for his deadly accuracy in front of goal, Corbett is regarded as one of Tipperary's all-time greatest forwards. Corbett began his hurling career at club level with Thurles Sarsfields. He broke onto the club's top adult team as a minor and enjoyed his first senior success in 2005 when Thurles Sarsfields won the Tipperary Senior Championship. The Gaelic Athletic Association-Gaelic Players' Association All Stars Awards (often known simply as the All Stars) are awarded annually to the best player in each of the 15 playing positions in Gaelic football and hurling. Additionally, one player in each code is selected as Player of the Year. The awards were instituted in 1971. Henry Shefflin
Henry Shefflin (born 11 January 1979) is an Irish hurling manager and former player who is the current manager of the Galway senior hurling team. In his playing career he was nicknamed "King Henry" because of his directive style, dominance, competitive spirit and leadership on the field. A versatile forward who started out in the corner, Shefflin made his name in more commanding positions as a centre or full-forward. He is widely regarded to be one of the greatest players in the history of the sport, with many former players, commentators and fans rating him as the number one player of all time.
