Paddy Kennedy (politician)
Patrick Kennedy (3 September 1942 – 3 May 1999) was a Northern Irish politician. Kennedy joined the Republican Labour Party (RLP) and was elected to Belfast City Council in 1967. He became involved in the civil rights protests and was a founder member of the Northern Ireland Civil Rights Association, and joined the Central Citizens Defence Committee. In the 1969 Northern Ireland general election, Kennedy was elected for Belfast Central. In August 1969, during intensive rioting in his constituency, he tried, without success, to get the Royal Ulster Constabulary to withdraw the armoured cars and heavy machine guns they were using against the rioters. After the rioting, in which Catholic residents of mixed areas in Belfast were burned out, Defence Committees were formed to defend nationalist areas. Paddy Kennedy (Kerry Gaelic Footballer)
Paddy Kennedy (1916-1979) was a Gaelic footballer from Kerry, active in the 1930s and 1940s. He was a member of the Garda Síochána for a time, but later became a sales representative for a mineral water company and managed the Crystal Ballroom in Dublin. Paddy Kennedy Memorial Park The Annascaul GAA club's home ground, opened in 1984, is named Paddy Kennedy Memorial Park after him. Regarded by many as one of the all-time greats of Kerry football, he was captain of the 1946 All-Ireland winning team. The pitch was opened in 1984; the first game played there was between Kerry and Dublin. Since then, there have been many West Kerry League championship games and finals played there by all age groups as well as many County League championships. Paddy Kennedy (association Footballer)
Patrick Anthony Kennedy (9 October 1934 – 18 March 2007) was an Irish footballer who played as a left-back for various clubs in the 1950s. As one of the Busby Babes, he was part of the Manchester United side that won the FA Youth Cup in 1953. Football career Kennedy was born in Dublin, in the Irish Republic and moved to England to join Manchester United as a 15-year-old. Awarded his professional contract in February 1953, Kennedy played alongside the likes of Duncan Edwards, Eddie Colman, David Pegg and Liam Whelan in United's FA Youth Cup winning side of 1953, when they defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers, 9–3 on aggregate. Kennedy only made one first-team appearance for United, also against Wolves, in a 4–2 defeat on 2 October 1954. He spent two further seasons in the reserves before a transfer to Blackburn Rovers in August 1956.
