''Pāda'' is the Sanskrit term for "foot" (cognate to English ''foot'', Latin ''pes'', Greek ''pous''), with derived meanings "step, stride; footprint, trace; vestige, mark". Adam's Peak is a tall conical mountain located in central Sri Lanka.
