Pacific Blue (company)
Pacific Blue (formerly Pacific Hydro) is an electricity generation and retailing company headquartered in Melbourne, Australia. The company was founded in 1992 and was soon floated on the Australian Stock Exchange, it was later bought by a consortium of industry superannuation funds and delisted. It is now owned by China's State Power Investment Corporation. The company builds and operates renewable energy projects, initially hydro electricity on irrigation dams, before opening its first wind farm in 2010. Pacific Blue develops hydro, wind, solar and geothermal power projects. In addition to Australia, the company operates also in Brazil and Chile. The company is also active in the carbon market in the production and trading of carbon credits from its run-of-river hydro projects registered under the Clean Development Mechanism of the Kyoto Protocol. Azure (color)
Azure ( , ) is the color between cyan and blue on the spectrum of visible light. It is often described as the color of the sky on a clear day. On the RGB color wheel, "azure" ( hexadecimal #0080FF) is defined as the color at 210 degrees, i.e., the hue halfway between blue and cyan. In the RGB color model, used to create all the colors on a television or computer screen, azure is created by adding a 50% of green light to a 100% of blue light. In the X11 color system, which became a model for early web colors, azure is depicted as a pale cyan or white cyan. Pacific Blue, or systematically 3-carboxy-6,8-difluoro-7-hydroxycoumarin, is a fluorophore used in cell biology. Its excitation maximum lies at 401 nm, while its emission maximum is at 452 nm. In contrast to the less acidic 7-hydroxy-3-carboxycoumarin (pKa=7.0), the high acidity of the phenol of Pacific Blue (pKa=3.7) causes its fluorescence to remain very high at neutral pH. Pacific Blue is a member of the group of Pacific dyes, which includes Pacific Orange, Pacific Green, and Pacific Blue. These fluorescent dyes all have an absorption maximum between 400 and 410 nm, but with different emission spectra: this allows simultaneous excitation with one laser, producing emission at maxima of 551nm, 500 nm and 455 nm, respectively (note: absorption and emission maxima may vary depending on the manufacturer). Virgin Australia Airlines (NZ) Limited formerly Pacific Blue Airlines (NZ) Limited, was an airline based in New Zealand. It was established as the New Zealand subsidiary of Australian airline Virgin Blue (now Virgin Australia). It was a fully owned subsidiary of Virgin Australia Holdings. It was renamed Virgin Australia Airlines (NZ) Ltd in December 2011 when its parent company decided to bring all its airlines under the one banner. It was based at Christchurch and Auckland and operated air services between New Zealand and Australia as well as the Pacific Islands. It also operated services on behalf of Virgin Samoa (formerly known as ''Polynesian Blue''). The airline has brought all its flying under its parent VA Air Operating Certificate.
