Pablo Zalba Bidegain
Pablo Zalba Bidegain (born 28 January 1975) is a Spanish economist and politician and has been a Member of the European Parliament (MEP), for the European People's Party, in office June 2009 to November 2016. From 2016 to 2018 he served as President of the Official Credit Institute (ICO). Early life Zalba Bidegain was born in Pamplona. In 1997 he graduated in Business Administration and Management from the University of Navarre. In 2007 he obtained an Executive MBA from London Business School. Career In 1998 he began working at Arcelor Mittal, both at its headquarters in Madrid and Pamplona, where he was active as head of International Business Development in the Construction Unit. The Official Credit Institute (Spanish language, Spanish; ''Instituto de Crédito Oficial'': ICO) is a Spanish lending institution. Its functions include funding investment projects and the assistance for the liquidity needs of Spanish companies. It also operates as State Financial Agency. A successor to the ''Instituto de Crédito a Medio y Largo Plazo'', the ICO was created in 1971 following the as public law entity (''entidad de derecho público''). In 2011, the European Commission’s Anti-fraud Office (OLAF) opened a formal investigation for corruption against four Members of European Parliament (MEPs)—Romanian Adrian Severin, Austrian Ernst Strasser, Spaniard Pablo Zalba Bidegain (who was cleared of wrongdoing as he had not accepted payment), and Slovenian Zoran Thaler—after an article in ''The Sunday Times'' claimed that they had tried to influence EU legislation in exchange for money. José Manuel García-Margallo y Marfil (born 13 August 1944) is a Spanish politician who served as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation from 2011 to 2016. Since 2019, he has been a member of the European Parliament. Early life and education García-Margallo was born in Madrid. In 1960, he joined the Young Spanish Monarchists. Josep Piqué i Camps (born 21 February 1955 in Vilanova i la Geltrú) is a Spanish politician of the right-leaning Spanish People's Party (PP) who represented Barcelona. Pique was initially a member of the Unified Socialist Party of Catalonia (PSUC) but left the grouping and subsequently joined the Union of the Democratic Centre.
