Pop Will Eat Itself are an English alternative rock musical ensemble, band formed in 1986 in Stourbridge in the West Midlands (region), West Midlands of England with members from Birmingham, Coventry and the Black Country. Initially known as a Grebo (music), grebo act, they changed style to incorporate sampling (music), sample-driven indie rock, indie and industrial rock. Graham Crabb describes their sound as "electronic, punk, alternative hip-hop, hybrid music for fucking, fighting & smoking cigars". Their highest-record chart, charting single was the 1993 top-ten hit "Get the Girl! Kill the Baddies!". After initially disbanding in 1996, and having a brief reformation in 2005, they issued their first release in more than five years in 2010. Vileevils
__NOTOC__ Vileevils was an electronic dance duo, formed when the 2005 reunion of Pop Will Eat Itself (PWEI) failed to become a full-time project. Singer Clint Mansell and guitarist Richard March were too busy with side projects to dedicate themselves to writing and performing new material, and so the remaining three members of the band decided to form the spin-off band Vileevils, utilising the ''Sonic Noise Byte'' material that PWEI had written following the reunion. The band toured extensively in the UK, before reorganising as a more minimalist two-piece, after Fuzz left the band in 2007. On 23 February 2010, Vile Evils announced that they had disbanded, and that Graham Crabb would move on to reconstitute Pop Will Eat Itself. Discography The band's first output was a collaboration with U.S. electronic act 3kStatic entitled 'Council Housed And Violent' in February 2008. Graham Crabb (born Graham Charles Crabb, 10 October 1964, Streetly, Warwickshire, England), also known as Crabbi, is an English musician, best known for performing in the industrial/dance rock band Pop Will Eat Itself (PWEI). Biography Crabb is a founder member of Pop Will Eat Itself. He, and (Clint Mansell) were the main songwriters. Drummer until the release of ''Box Frenzy'' in 1987, after which he became vocalist and co-frontman with Mansell. He worked with PWEI until 1995, and then formed Golden Claw Musics. Golden Claw Musics Golden Claw Musics was the main musical project of Crabb after he left Pop Will Eat Itself in 1995. In 1993, he remixed Pop Will Eat Itself's "Get the Girl, Kill the Baddies" as a B-side called "Part Man Part Machine", prompting him to release more of his ambient material. Nothing Records
Nothing Records was an American record label specializing in industrial rock and electronic music, founded by John Malm Jr. and Trent Reznor in 1992. It is considered an example of a vanity label, where an artist is able to run a label with some small degree of independence within a larger parent company, in this case the larger company being Interscope Records. Nothing Records went largely defunct in 2004, after a lawsuit by Reznor against John Malm. The label became inactive as a whole following several further releases; 2007's ''Beside You in Time'' music video was the label's final release. Background Nothing Records is most famous for its two original signings, Trent Reznor's own band Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson. The label gained semi-iconic status within the industrial rock scene, and even acquired its own online-fanzine in ''Sick Among the Pure'', although this later became a more general industrial fanzine, and ceased to exist at all in 2005. Clint Mansell
Clinton Darryl Mansell (; born 7 January 1963) is an English musician, singer, and composer, born in Coventry. He served as the lead singer and multi-instrumentalist of alt-rock band Pop Will Eat Itself before embarking on a career as a film score composer. Mansell moved to the United States after the dissolution of the group and started working with filmmaker Darren Aronofsky. He has subsequently become an award-winning, Golden Globe and Grammy-nominated film composer, collaborating extensively with Aronofsky and writing scores for dozens of other films (both shorts and features), TV series, and video games. Mansell resides in Los Angeles, composing and occasionally touring live versions of his work. A pioneer of sampling in his own work, Mansell's work is now a favourite with sampling musicians. Fuzz Townshend
John Richard Keith "Fuzz" Townshend (born 31 July 1964) is a British drummer, TV presenter of National Geographic Channel's ''Car SOS'' (also shown on Channel 4/More4), motoring journalist for ''Classic Car Weekly'', former technical editor of ''Practical Classics'', and mechanic. He is also honorary president of the Triumph Sports Six Club. He also had a solo music career from 1996 to 2002. The early years Townshend's Afro hair was unique in his junior school and so, at seven years of age, his school chums renamed him Fuzz. His mother won a Vauxhall Chevette in a national newspaper competition when he was ten; having never learned to drive, she instead opted to take the prize in cash and spent it buying her son a drum kit. Stourbridge is a market town in the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley in the West Midlands, England, situated on the River Stour.
