PW800
The Pratt & Whitney Canada PW800 is a turbofan engine in the thrust class, under development by Pratt & Whitney Canada. Intended for the regional jet and business jet market, the gear-less PW800 shares a common core with the larger, geared PW1000G. The first variants were certified on February 15, 2015, to power the new Gulfstream G500/G600. Development The development of the PW800 stretches back to demonstration projects in 1999, soon after the development of the PW600 very light engine and the PW300 business jet engine. After the Advanced Technology Fan Integrator demonstrator first ran on March 17, 2001, which became the PW1000G, Pratt & Whitney Canada was searching for a launch customer for the initially geared PW800, in the thrust range, bridging the gap between P&WC's PW300 and P&W's PW6000, intended for the regional- and business-jet engine market. The Gulfstream G400, G500, and G600 (GVII) are twin-engine business jets designed and produced by Gulfstream Aerospace. The aircraft are designated ''Gulfstream GVII-G500'' and ''GVII-G600'' in their type certificate. The two larger models were unveiled on October 14, 2014 and the smaller G400 was unveiled on October 4, 2021. The G500 was first delivered on September 27, 2018, and the longer G600 was first delivered August 8. The G500 will replace the G450 while the larger G600 will succeed the G550. PW1000G
The Pratt & Whitney PW1000G, also called the Geared Turbofan (GTF), is a high-bypass geared turbofan engine family produced by Pratt & Whitney. After many demonstrators, the program was launched with the Mitsubishi MRJ's PW1200G in March 2008, and it was first flight tested in July 2008. The first variant to be certified was the PW1500G for the Airbus A220 in February 2013. The program cost is estimated at $10 billion. The gearbox between the fan and the low-pressure spool allows each to spin at its optimal speed, allowing a higher bypass ratio for a better propulsive efficiency. The Safran Silvercrest is a French turbofan under development by Safran Aircraft Engines. Development The engine was announced at the 2006 National Business Aviation Association convention. Certification was originally slated for the end of 2010 or early 2011.
