PVK Jadran
PVK Jadran is a professional water polo club based in Herceg Novi, Montenegro. As of 2021–22 season, the club competes in the Montenegrin League and Regional League A1. PVK Jadran is a 16-time winner of the National league (10 Montenegro, 2 SFR Yugoslavia, 4 Serbia & Montenegro), 13-time winner of the National cup (10 Montenegro, 3 SFR Yugoslavia), 2-time winner of the Regional Water Polo League, and 1-time runner-up of the LEN Champions League. History PVK Jadran was founded in the summer of 1922 as a merger between two water polo clubs, Bijela Vila and Spjaža. It was then registered at the Swimming Federation of Yugoslavia. It was the only water club in the Bay of Kotor region and played against teams from Dubrovnik. Montenegrin First League Of Water Polo
The Montenegrin First League of Water Polo is the national professional water polo league in Montenegro. It was established in 2006. shortly after Montenegro declared its independence from Serbia and Montenegro. It is organized by the Water Polo and Swimming Federation of Montenegro. Three clubs from Montenegrin League are playing in Adriatic Water Polo League. History Before independence During their history, Montenegrin water polo clubs played in the top-tier competition of SFR Yugoslavia, FR Yugoslavia and Serbia and Montenegro, with important roles in Yugoslav Water Polo Championship. Among them are PVK Jadran, VK Primorac Kotor and VK Budva. In that competitions, Montenegrin clubs won 6 titles of national champion. Miloš Šćepanović
Miloš Šćepanović ( sr-cyrl, Милош Шћепановић; born October 9, 1982) is a Montenegrin water polo player. He was a member of the Montenegro men's national water polo team at the 2008 Summer Olympics. There the team reached the semifinals, where it was defeated by Hungary and then met Serbia in the bronze medal match. They were defeated with the score 6:4 for Serbia and finished in 4th place. He was also a member of the Montenegrin team at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Vanja Udovičić ( sr-Cyrl, Вања Удовичић, ; born 12 September 1982) is a Serbian politician and former professional water polo player who served as minister of youth and sports from 2013 to 2022. An independent politician, he is aligned with the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS). During an illustrious professional water polo career that spanned 15 seasons, Udovičić played for Partizan Belgrade, Jadran Herceg Novi, Posillipo Naples, Pro Recco, Mladost Zagreb and Radnički Kragujevac. Andrija Prlainović ( sr-Cyrl, Андрија Прлаиновић; born 28 April 1987) is a Serbian water polo player widely regarded as one of the greatest players ever. He was a member of the Serbia men's national water polo teams that won bronze medals at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics and gold medals in 2016 and 2020. Vladimir Gojković (Serbian Cyrillic: Владимир Гојковић; born 29 January 1981) is a Montenegrin former water polo player and current water polo coach of Montenegro national team. He won silver medal as a member of the Serbia and Montenegro team in Athens in 2004. He was a member of the Montenegro men's national water polo team at the 2008 Summer Olympics. Aleksandar Ivović, (born 24 February 1986) is a Montenegrin professional water polo player. He started his career at PVK Jadran, which is his first senior team to compete for. He was a member of the Montenegro men's national water polo team at the 2008 Summer Olympics. The team reached the semifinals, where they were defeated by Hungary and then lost to Serbia in the bronze medal match. Božidar Stanišić
Božidar "Cikota" Stanišić (21 October 1936 – 3 January 2014) was a water polo player from Montenegro. He was part of the Yugoslav teams that won a silver medal at the 1964 Olympics and placed fourth in 1960. He won another silver medal at the 1958 European Championships. Stanišić learned to swim aged 14. Two years later started playing water polo for PKV Jadran and won with them the national title in 1958 and 1959; he later played for VK Bijela and coached both teams. Stanišić was a lawyer by profession. He was voted the Montenegrin Athlete of the Year a record four times, in 1959, 1961, 1963 and 1965.
