The PMZ-A-750 (Russian: ПМЗ-А-750) was a pre-World War II heavy motorcycle produced in the USSR by the PMZ (motorcycle), PMZ factory. History The PMZ-A-750 was the first heavy motorcycle manufactured in the Soviet Union. It was designed in the early 1930s in the NATI (motorcycle), NATI (Scientific Auto & Tractor Institute) in Moscow, at the request of the Supreme Soviet of the National Economy. A main designer was Pyotr Mozharov, who had been responsible for early IZh (motorcycle), IZh motorcycle prototypes, and practised in the German BMW works. Podolsk Mechanical Plant (PMZ; russian: Подольский механический завод, Podol'skiy Mekhanicheskiy Zavod) was a mechanical plant in Podolsk, Russia. History The Podolsk factory was established in 1900 as ''Kompaniya Singer'', the Russian branch of the Singer Corporation. It was the sole sewing machine factory in the Russian Empire, and by 1914 it employed over 5,000 workers. The company was nationalized after the Russian Revolution, and it was renamed ''Zavod imeni Kalinina'' to commemorate a visit to the factory by Mikhail Kalinin. The first motorcycles were built in the factory in February 1934. In 1935 they commenced series production of the PMZ-A-750 which had been design by Pyotr Mozharov at NATI (motorcycle), NATI, for the Soviet Army. The factory was partially evacuated in Autumn 1941. IZh (motorcycle)
Lada Izhevsk is a subsidiary of the state-owned carmaking company AvtoVAZ based in Izhevsk, Russia. It was formerly a subsidiary of Izmash under the IzhAvto brand, and manufactured both motorcycles and automobiles. The company was given its current name in 2017. History IZh first proposed an automobile in 1958, with a prototype four-wheel drive for rural use, the NAMI 048 ''Ogonyok''. It used a GAZ chassis and a flat-twin engine based on the Ural M72. V-twin Engine
A V-twin engine, also called a V2 engine, is a two-cylinder piston engine where the cylinders share a common crankshaft and are arranged in a V configuration. Although widely associated with motorcycles (installed either transversely or longitudinally), V-twin engines have also been used for industrial engines and in several small cars.
