PK Albertyn
Pieter Kuyper Albertyn (27 May 1897 – 7 March 1973), known as "PK" or "Pierre", was a South African rugby union player and 15th captain of the South Africa national rugby union team. Biography Born in the small coastal town, Kleinmond, Albertyn received his schooling at the Stellenbosch Boys' High, after which he went on to the Victoria College in Stellenbosch. During his studies he represented the Maties on the rugby field and played mainly wing, where he was able to utilize his great speed. In 1919, Albertyn was selected to play against the combined New Zealand military team. In this match he injured his knee in such a way that it threatened to end his rugby career. After the injury and in an effort to protect his knee, he was obliged to switch to centre. Kleinmond
Kleinmond is a small coastal town in the Overberg region of the Western Cape province, South Africa. It is situated inside a UNESCO-declared biosphere about 90 km east of Cape Town between Betty's Bay and Hermanus. The town's name, meaning "small mouth" in Afrikaans, refers to its location at the mouth of the Bot River lagoon. Stone ax heads found in the area indicate that people already lived in the vicinity of nearby Hangklip 20,000 years ago. Information about the area has existed in writing since the seventeenth century. Tourism Tourism plays a large role in the town's economy due to its popularity with holiday makers from across the Western Cape and Cape Town in particular. Phil Mostert
Phillippus Jacobus Mostert (30 October 1898 – 3 October 1972) was a South African rugby union player and 16th captain of the South Africa national rugby union team. He predominantly played in the forwards as prop, but could also play lock. Early life Mostert was born 30 October 1898, Krugersdorp, South Africa. His father joined the Boer forces to fight for South African independence, and was killed in the Battle of Colenso, Natal, during the Second Boer War (15 December 1899). Mostert, his mother (Anna Francina Mostert) and 7 siblings (Martha, Gerbrecht, Johanna, Catherina, Francois, Frederik and Willem) were removed from their family farm in Krugersdorp (2 May 1901) and placed in a camp and remained there until the end of the war (15 October 1902). After release from the concentration camp, Mostert and his family moved down to the Western Cape to live with his maternal aunt. Boy Morkel
William Herman "Boy" Morkel (2 January 1885 – 6 February 1955) was a South African rugby union player and 14th captain of the South Africa national rugby union team. Biography Morkel was born in Somerset West, but he played for Diggers Rugby Club in Johannesburg at the start of his career before returning to the Cape in 1908, joining Somerset West Rugby Club. He made his debut for in 1908 and later became captain. He was the captain of Western Province when the team won the Currie Cup in 1914. Morkel made his test debut for during the third test against the British Isles on 3 September 1910 at Newlands in Cape Town. He was then selected for Springboks on the tour to Europe of 1912–13. The Newlands Stadium, referred to as DHL Newlands for sponsorship reasons, is located in Cape Town, South Africa. The stadium has a capacity of 51,900 people, but is not an all-seater venue. St George's Park Cricket Ground (also known as St George's Park, Crusaders Ground or simply Crusaders) is a cricket ground in St George's Park,South Africa. It is the home of the Port Elizabeth Cricket Club, one of the oldest cricket clubs in South Africa, and the Eastern Province Club. It is also one of the venues at which Test matches and One Day Internationals are played in South Africa. It is older than Kingswood College in Grahamstown.
