PJ Torokvei
PJ Torokvei (born Peter Torokvei; March 19, 1951 – July 3, 2013) was a Canadian screenwriter, actor, and television producer. A trans woman, her professional credits are generally under her deadname. In 2001, she announced to friends and family her intention to transition from her sex assigned at birth and undergo sex reassignment surgery. Torokvei was involved with both ''The Second City'' and '' SCTV''. Her notable works in film include the screenplays for ''Real Genius'', '' Armed and Dangerous'', ''Back to School'' and ''Guarding Tess''. Her most notable work for television was as a producer and head writer on ''WKRP in Cincinnati''. She appeared in and wrote for various television shows and films from the 1970s through the 1990s. She died at home from liver failure on July 3, 2013, at the age of 62. ''The New Avengers'' is a secret agent action television series produced during 1976 and 1977. It is a sequel to the 1960s series '' The Avengers'' and was developed by original series producers Albert Fennell and Brian Clemens. ''The Earth Day Special'' is a television special revolving around Earth Day that aired on ABC on April 22, 1990. Sponsored by Time Warner, the two-hour special featured an ensemble cast addressing concerns about pollution, deforestation, and other environmental ills. Several cutaways are made to famous fictional characters watching events unfold and discussing what can be done to save the planet. Pat Proft
Pat Proft is an American comedy writer, actor, and director. Born in Minnesota in 1947, Proft began his career at Dudley Riggs' Brave New Workshop in Minneapolis in the mid 1960s. He went on to perform as a one-man comedy act in the late 1960s. In 1972, Proft began working at The Comedy Store in Hollywood which led to work in television and film writing for the Smothers Brothers and Zucker, Abrahams and Zucker. Of the many feature films Proft has written, ''Wrongfully Accused'', is the only one he also directed. It was released in 1998.
