Despite that, Pardus ships in several languages. Its ease of use and availability free of charge has spawned numerous communities throughout the world. Development Pardus was started by Turkish National Research Institute of Electronics and Cryptology (UEKAE), a division of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), in 2003. The first live CD version of Pardus was a fork of Gentoo Linux in 2005. The current version is a fork of Debian. Release history PiSi package management PiSi (; Packages Installed Successfully as Intended; also a Turkish word meaning "kitty", intended as a pun on the distribution's name, which is derived from ''pardus'', the species name of the leopard.) is a package management system that was developed for Pardus. Live CD
A live CD (also live DVD, live disc, or live operating system) is a complete bootable computer installation including operating system which runs directly from a CD-ROM or similar storage device into a computer's memory, rather than loading from a hard disk drive. A live CD allows users to run an operating system for any purpose without installing it or making any changes to the computer's configuration. Live CDs can run on a computer without secondary storage, such as a hard disk drive, or with a corrupted hard disk drive or file system, allowing data recovery. As CD and DVD drives have been steadily phased-out, live CDs have become less popular, being replaced by live USBs, which are equivalent systems written onto USB flash drives, which have the added benefit of having writeable storage. The functionality of a live CD is also available with an external hard disk drive connected by USB. Many live CDs offer the option of persistence by writing files to a hard drive or USB fl ...

Firefox 4
Mozilla Firefox 4 is a version of the Firefox web browser, released on March 22, 2011. The first beta was made available on July 6, 2010; Release Candidate 2 (a base for the final version) was released on March 18, 2011. It was codenamed Tumucumaque, and was Firefox's last large release cycle. The Mozilla team planned smaller and quicker releases following other browser vendors. The primary goals for this version included improvements in performance, standards support, and user interface. There was one security update in April 2011 (4.0.1) and version 4 of the browser was made obsolete by the release of Firefox 5 in June 2011. This marked a transition to giving much less weight to major version numbers, with 5 more major version numbers used by December of that year (5, 6, 7, 8, and 9), compared to 4 in nearly a decade of Firefox development (1, 2, 3, 4). History On October 13, 2006, Brendan Eich, Mozilla's Chief Technology Officer, wrote about the plans for "Mozilla 2", ...

Clementine (software)
Clementine is a free and open-source audio player. It is a port of Amarok 1.4 to the Qt 4 framework and the GStreamer multimedia framework. It is available for Unix-like, Windows and macOS operating systems. Clementine is released under the terms of the GPL-3.0-or-later. Clementine was created due to the transition from version 1.4 to version 2 of Amarok, and the shift of focus connected with it, which was criticized by many users. The first version of Clementine was released in February 2010. The last stable release of Clementine was in 2016, but development has since resumed on GitHub, with a number of release candidate versions published. In 2018, a fork of Clementine named ''Strawberry Music Player'' was released. Features Clementine has the ability to stream audio from services such as Spotify, SoundCloud and Last.fm, as well as other platforms. The software also has the functionality to display information such as lyrics and statistics regarding the song current ...

Kopete
Kopete is a multi-protocol, free software instant messaging client released as part of the KDE Software Compilation. Although it can run in numerous environments, it was designed for and integrates with the KDE Plasma Workspaces. Kopete was started because ICQ blocked Licq from their network in 2001. According to the original author, Duncan Mac-Vicar Prett, the name comes from the Chilean Spanish word ''copete'', meaning "a drink with your friends". Kopete has been nominated for multiple awards. (2nd place, Favorite Instant Messaging Client) (Best Communications Software, Runner Up) The designated successor is KDE Telepathy from the KDE RTCC Initiative. Kontact
Kontact is a personal information manager and groupware software suite developed by KDE. It supports calendars, contacts, notes, to-do lists, news, and email. It offers a number of inter-changeable graphical UIs (KMail, KAddressBook, Akregator, etc.) all built on top of a common core. Differences between "Kontact" and "KDE PIM" Technically speaking, ''Kontact'' only refers to a small umbrella application that unifies different stand-alone applications under one user interface. ''KDE PIM'' refers to a work group within the larger KDE project that develops the individual applications in a coordinated way. In popular terms, however, ''Kontact'' often refers to the whole set of ''KDE PIM'' applications. These days many popular Linux distributions such as Kubuntu hide the individual applications and only place ''Kontact'' prominently. History The initial groupware container application was written in an afternoon by Matthias Hölzer-Klüpfel and later imported into the KDE so ...

KDE Plasma Desktop
KDE Plasma 5 is the fifth and current generation of the graphical workspaces environment created by KDE primarily for Linux systems. KDE Plasma 5 is the successor of KDE Plasma 4 and was first released on 15 July 2014. It includes a new default theme, known as "Breeze", as well as increased convergence across different devices. The graphical interface was fully migrated to QML, which uses OpenGL for hardware acceleration, which resulted in better performance and reduced power consumption. Plasma Mobile is a Plasma 5 variant for Linux-based smartphones. Overview Software architecture KDE Plasma 5 is built using Qt 5 and KDE Frameworks 5, predominantly plasma-framework. It improves support for HiDPI displays and ships a convergable graphical shell, which can adjust itself according to the device in use. 5.0 also includes a new default theme, dubbed Breeze. K Desktop Environment 3
K Desktop Environment 3 is the third series of releases of the K Desktop Environment (after that called ''KDE Software Compilation''). There are six major releases in this series. After the release of KDE 4, version 3.5 was forked into the Trinity Desktop Environment. K Desktop Environment 3.0 K Desktop Environment 3.0 introduced better support for restricted usage, a feature demanded by certain environments such as kiosks, Internet cafes and enterprise deployments, which disallows the user from having full access to all capabilities of a piece of software. To address these needs, KDE 3.0 included a new lockdown framework, essentially a permissions-based system for altering application configuration options that supplements the standard UNIX permissions system. The KDE panel and the desktop manager were modified to employ this system, but other major desktop components, such as Konqueror and the Control Center, had to wait for subsequent releases. K Desktop Environment 3.0 deb ...
