PIAA District 10
District 10 of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) is an interscholastic athletic association in Northwest Pennsylvania. District 10 is one of the PIAA's 12 athletic conferences and comprises high schools in Erie, Pennsylvania and surrounding counties to the south and east. Member schools are classified by enrollment into four categories based on the number of students: A, AA, AAA, AAAA. District 10 is commonly referred to as "D-10" and is sometimes notated with the Roman Numeral "X". Member schools The league is made up of 50 public schools and private schools located in Crawford, Erie, Mercer, Venango and Warren counties. The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association, Inc., also known by its acronymn PIAA, is one of the governing bodies of high school and middle school athletics for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, in the United States. The PIAA's main office is located in the Harrisburg suburb of Mechanicsburg. History The PIAA was founded in Pittsburgh on December 29, 1913. It is charged with serving its member schools and registered officials by establishing policies and adopting contest rules that emphasize the educational values of interscholastic athletics, promote safe and sportsmanlike competition, and provide uniform standards for all interscholastic levels of competition. The ''Erie Times-News'' is a daily morning newspaper in Erie, Pennsylvania. It has a daily circulation of about 47,385 and a Sunday circulation of about 58,378. The beginning The newspaper was founded as the ''Erie Daily Times'' on April 12, 1888, by nine printers involved in a labor dispute at another newspaper. They each invested $25 to establish the Times Publishing Company, which was initially located in a cellar at the corner of 9th Street and State Street. John J. Track and field is a sport that includes athletic contests based on running, jumping, and throwing skills. Softball
Softball is a game similar to baseball played with a larger ball on a smaller field. Softball is played competitively at club levels, the college level, and the professional level. Collegiate wrestling (also known as folkstyle wrestling) is the form of wrestling practiced at the college and university level in the United States. Volleyball
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules.
