PHotoEspaña
PHotoEspaña, the International Festival of Photography and Visual Arts of Madrid, is a photography forum that began in 1998. The Festival’s program presents work by Spanish and international image-makers. It runs an awards programme with several categories. Details Over 600 exhibitions have been presented in museums, art centres and galleries, which have attracted more than half a million visitors each year, making PHotoEspaña the largest cultural event in Spain. Each edition of PHotoEspaña is dedicated to a specific theme and the programme is divided into: the Official Section, which includes museums, institutions and large exhibition centres; and the Festival Off, which includes art galleries and other venues. Max Pam
Max Pam (born 1949) is an Australian photographer. Pam's first survey exhibition was held at the Art Gallery of Western Australia in 1986, followed by a mid-career retrospective at the Art Gallery of New South Wales in 1991, his largest solo show to date at the Sogo Nara Museum of Art in Japan and was the subject of a major exhibition at the Comptoir de la Photographie in Paris in 1990, which covered the work of three decades. He has published several photographic monographs and 'carnets de voyage'. Life and work Pam was born in Melbourne, Australia. As a teenager he found post-war suburban Melbourne grim, oppressive and culturally isolated. He found refuge in the counter-culture of surfing and the imagery of National Geographic and Surfer Magazine and became determined to travel overseas. Dewi Lewis
Dewi Lewis (born 10 March 1951) is a Welsh publisher and curator of photography. Career In 1975, Lewis was the founding director of the Bury Metropolitan Arts Association which operates the Met. Lewis also founded and was the first director of Cornerhouse, an arts centre in Manchester, England. Lewis was made an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society in 2004 and was awarded the Society’s inaugural RPS Award for Outstanding Service to Photography in 2009. In 2012, the Kraszna-Krausz Foundation presented him with an award for Outstanding Contribution to Photography Publishing. Lewis has acted as a jury member for several major competitions and as a portfolio reviewer at international photography events including Fotofest and Review Santa Fe (both USA), Lodz Festival (Poland) and PHotoEspaña (Spain). Harri Pälviranta
Harri Pälviranta (born 1971 in Tampere, Finland) is a visual artist who uses mostly photography but also moving images and archival approach. Pälviranta is also a researcher, who specializes in photography studies and theories of the documentary. Career Pälviranta started his academic studies in 1993 at the Tampere University, majoring in political sciences. In 1996, he moved to Turku to study photography at the Turku Arts Academy and received his BFA in 2000. In 2002, he started studying media studies at the University of Turku, receiving MA in 2005. In 2007 he moved to Helsinki to work on his doctoral thesis at the Aalto University, and he successfully defended the thesis (''EXPERIENCING REALITY IN AN ART EXHIBITION. Cristina De Middel
Cristina de Middel (born 1975) is a Spanish documentary photographer and artist living and working in Uruapan, Mexico. De Middel self-published ''The Afronauts'' in 2012, a photobook about the short-lived Zambian space program in Southern Africa. The book quickly sold out and the work was met with critical acclaim. She was nominated for the 2013 Deutsche Börse Photography Prize for ''The Afronauts''. In 2013, de Middel received the Infinity Award from the International Center of Photography. In 2017 she became a nominee member of Magnum Photos and in 2022 became a full member. Art Festivals In Spain
Art is a diverse range of human activity, and resulting product, that involves creative or imaginative talent expressive of technical proficiency, beauty, emotional power, or conceptual ideas.
