__NOTOC__ The PDQ Aircraft Products PDQ-2 is a very basic light aircraft originally built in 1973 in the United States, and marketed as plans for a homebuilt aircraft.Taylor 1989, p.717 It was a minimalist design, consisting of aluminum alloy tubes carrying the pilot's seat, a set of monoplane wings and a T-tail.''Jane's All the World's Aircraft 1977–78'', p.554Markowski 1979, p.268 The pilot's position was fully exposed at the front of the aircraft. Power is provided by a single engine mounted pusher-fashion on a pylon above the wings. Wayne Ison
Wayne Ison (June 28, 1924 – August 9, 2014) was an aircraft designer whose designs include the Airbike, Mini-MAX, Hi-MAX and PDQ-2. He first worked for the Ford Motor Company, then received a draft notice following the U.S. entry into the Second World War. He served as a Douglas C-47 Skytrain radio operator during World War II. He, along with others, formed the Tennessee Engineering And Manufacturing incorporated, known as TEAM Incorporated, to market his Mini-MAX design. Following a lawsuit, TEAM was dissolved with the transfer of the Mini-MAX and Airbike designs to ISON Aircraft. Volkswagen Air-cooled Engine
The Volkswagen air-cooled engine is an air-cooled, gasoline-fuelled, boxer engine with four horizontally opposed cast-iron cylinders, cast aluminum alloy cylinder heads and pistons, magnesium-alloy crankcase, and forged steel crankshaft and connecting rods. There are two distinct families/variations of the aircooled engine namely Type 1 and Type 4. The Type 3 engine is a variation of the Type 1 engine with pancake cooling arrangement.
