The Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit membership organization dedicated to the promotion and sustainable growth of disc golf. The PDGA is the global governing body of disc golf. The organization promotes the sport through tournament development, course development, rules and competitive standards, media and sponsor relations, and public education and outreach. As of September 1, 2022, the current PDGA Board of Directors consists of PDGA President Nate Heinold, Vice President Wilbur Wallis, Treasurer David Schreff, and Secretary Geoff Hungerford, as well as Laura Nagtegaal, Leah Tsinajinnie, and Conrad Damon. Frisbie Pie Company
The Frisbie Pie Company is an American pie company located in Bridgeport, Connecticut. It was founded in 1871 by William Russell Frisbie in Bridgeport, Connecticut, when he bought and renamed a branch of the Olds Baking Company. The company was located on Kossuth Street in Bridgeport's East Side, where workers would toss around the pie tins while on their breaks. The activity made its way to nearby college campuses. The "skilled person" theory of origin It has been noted by the Associated Press that Frisbie supplied pies to many Connecticut retailers and restaurants, including the Middlebury College campus. John Houck
John Houck was born May 15, 1960 in Long Beach, California. He has designed more Championship disc golf courses than anyone living today. Since 1983, he has been devoted to the evolution and promotion of disc sports, including golf, ultimate, and freestyle, with a focus on the growth of disc golf since 1988. Discraft
Discraft is a company that originated in 1978 in London, Ontario. It was started by a group of disc sport enthusiasts including Jim Kenner, Gail McColl,Chris and Mary Greenwood and Wallace Kenny. In 1979 Jim and Gail moved to Michigan and started what is now Discraft Inc. It was originally in Westland, MI but is now located in Wixom, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. They are a manufacturer of flying discs for the sports of Ultimate, Disc Golf and Freestyle. The company does not have any retail stores, but rather sells large quantities of discs to resellers and wholesalers around the world. Discraft's 175-gram Ultra-Star disc is the only official disc that is ''USA Ultimate Championship Series Approved'' by the Ultimate Players Association. Tom Monroe (disc Golfer)
Tom Monroe (born January 3, 1947) is a champion of virtually all flying disc sports, including ultimate, freestyle, field events and especially disc golf. In 1973, Tom Monroe was in Atlanta for the summer working in order to earn money to re-enroll in college at the University of North Alabama in Florence. That year Wham-O held nationwide frisbee events called "The Great Frisbee Fly In" in conjunction with radio stations all across America. Tom had played frisbee with his roommate in college and could throw pretty well for playing catch and doing a few tricks, so the time had come to test his skills. Hundreds of people showed up for the competition at Grant Park, with events for distance and accuracy. Tom won both events. Frisbee
A frisbee (pronounced ), also called a flying disc or simply a disc, is a gliding toy or sporting item that is generally made of injection-molded plastic and roughly in diameter with a pronounced lip.
