Ipswich Road, Brisbane
Ipswich Road is major road in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The road has been an important transport route since the 19th century when it connected the towns of Brisbane and Ipswich. In the 1990s, the section from Moorooka in Brisbane to Riverview in Ipswich was replaced by the Ipswich Motorway. Logan Road, Pacific Motorway, and Beaudesert Road (Mount Lindesay Highway) are the other major roads in the south of Brisbane. Woolloongabba Ipswich Road begins at the Woolloongabba Fiveways intersection. From there Ipswich Road heads south towards Ipswich, Main Street heads north (to the tip of Kangaroo Point), Stanley Street goes east and west and Logan Road heads south-east towards Logan City. Buranda is a neighbourhood in the southern Brisbane suburbs of Greenslopes and Woolloongabba in Brisbane, the capital of Queensland, Australia. The location is an important transport hub for southern Brisbane. Logan Road and Ipswich Road pass through the area as does the South East Busway with a station called Buranda busway station. Eastern Busway
The Eastern Busway is a bus-only road running from the University of Queensland's St Lucia campus to Langlands Park busway station in Queensland, Australia. Development The Eastern Busway was built and opened in stages. The first section between the University of Queensland and the South East Busway opened in August 2009 and the Buranda to Main Avenue section in August 2011. UQ Lakes to Buranda section Construction began in April 2007 on the UQ Lakes to Buranda section with it opening on 3 August 2009. The UQ Lakes to Buranda section of the busway was built under an alliance with Thiess, Sinclair Knight Merz and the Department of Transport and Main Roads. Go Card
The ''go'' card is an electronic smartcard ticketing system developed by Cubic Corporation, which is currently used on the TransLink public transport network in South East Queensland. To use the ''go'' card, users hold the card less than 10 cm away from the reader to "touch on" before starting a journey, and must do the same to "touch off" the service at the end of the journey. The cost of each journey is deducted from the ''go'' card balance. The Queensland Government awarded the $134 million contract to design, build, operate and maintain the ''go'' card system to Cubic Corporation in July 2003. In July 2006, TransLink signed up around 1,000 volunteers to trial the new smartcard system in the Redcliffe area. Capalaba Bus Station
The Capalaba Bus Station, at Capalaba, Queensland, is serviced by TransLink bus routes. It is part of the Capalaba Shopping Precinct and is the primary interchange for TransLink's Eastern Region. It is in Zone 2 of the TransLink integrated public transport system. The Interchange is laid out in square island with platforms (A-D) on each side surrounding landscaping work, community art pieces, shelters and an amenities block. Each platform can accommodate two buses and on the opposite side of Platforms A and B is parking for up to six buses. UQ Lakes Busway Station
UQ Lakes busway station is located in Brisbane, Australia, serving the University of Queensland's St Lucia campus. It opened on 17 December 2006 at the western terminus of the Eastern Busway at the end of the Eleanor Schonell Bridge. By 2012, about 1.5 million passengers were using the bus stop each year, making it one of the top-5 busiest stops in Brisbane. Originally opening with one platform, a second platform using the existing pathway was added 2008 in order to serve a route extension from West End. A further expansion costing $3 million began construction in 2011 to cope with increased bus services. Opening in June 2012, the upgrade involved a turning lane upgrade, an increase from four to six stops, larger waiting areas, additional shelters and improved lighting.
