Icelandic (; is, íslenska, link=no ) is a North Germanic language spoken by about 314,000 people, the vast majority of whom live in Iceland, where it is the national language. Due to being a West Scandinavian language, it is most closely related to Faroese, western Norwegian dialects, and the extinct language, Norn. The language is more conservative than most other Germanic languages. While most of them have greatly reduced levels of inflection (particularly noun declension), Icelandic retains a four- case synthetic grammar (comparable to German, though considerably more conservative and synthetic) and is distinguished by a wide assortment of irregular declensions. Sándor Páll ( Serbian: Шандор Пал, ''Šandor Pal'') (15 February 1954, Bačko Petrovo Selo – 7 July 2010, Novi Sad) was an ethnic Hungarian politician in Serbia and leader of Democratic Fellowship of Vojvodina Hungarians. Born in Bačko Petrovo Selo in Serbia to Hungarian father and Serbian mother, he graduated in 1977 as a teacher of Yugoslav literature at the University of Novi Sad and got his MB in 1988. Formerly a schoolteacher, he was afterwards a professor at the University of Novi Sad. He died in Novi Sad, Serbia on 7 July 2010 at the age of 56. Nólsoyar Páll (originally, Poul Poulsen Nolsøe) (11 October 1766 – 1808 or 1809) is a Faroese national hero. He was a seaman, trader, poet, farmer and boat builder who tried to develop direct trade between the Faroes and the rest of Europe and introduced vaccination to the islands. Páll Skúlason (4 June 1945 – 22 April 2015) was a professor of philosophy and former Rector of the University of Iceland. Maus (band)
Maus is a rock band from Iceland, formed in 1993. The band consists of Birgir Örn "Biggi" Steinarsson on vocals and guitar, Daníel "Danni" Þorsteinsson on drums, Eggert Gíslason on bass, and Páll Ragnar "Palli" Pálsson on guitar. Most of their songs are sung in Icelandic, though English versions of some songs have been released, as well as some original songs in English. The band was active releasewise from 1994 to 2004 but still continue to play live. They released five studio albums, a number of singles and a compilation that also featured one new song and an bonus cd featuring unreleased demo's and remixes. The band was very active with live performances in and outside their native country. Abroad their most noticeable gigs where at the CMJ, Summerstage and touring Denmark. Páll Ragnar Pálsson
Páll Ragnar Pálsson, born in Reykjavík, July 25, 1977, is an Icelandic composer. Studies During the years 1993–2004 he was a guitarist in ''Maus'', one of Iceland's most progressive indie rock bands in the 1990s, but took a decisive move towards contemporary classical music in 2004, entering the composition department of Iceland Academy of the Arts (LHÍ). Páll á Reynatúgvu (born 26 July 1967, in Tórshavn), is a Faroese politician, and former football player, currently serving as speaker of the Faroese Parliament. He was first elected in 1998, and again in 2002, when he assumed the position of Minister of Health and Social Affairs.
