Put You In The Picture
"Put You in the Picture" is a song written by Russell Webb, and performed by his group PVC2, who comprised Ure on guitar and lead vocals, Kenny Hyslop on drums, Billy McIsaac on keyboards and Webb on bass guitar. The song was released on 30 August 1977 by Zoom Records, in an eponymous EP, which was the last single and recording of Midge Ure with the remaining members of Slik, who later resurged as Zones, with another singer and guitarist, Willie Gardner. In August 2006, Ryan Foley listed the single as #8 in his top 10 list of Scottish punk singles in ''Stylus Magazine''. Foley declared that: "“Pain” is thundering and thrashy, and heavily inspired by contemporary acts such as the Clash. Ure's vocals on the chorus feature all the gusto of a medieval torturer, and are a far cry from the saccharine tunes he was doing just 18 months earlier" (in reference to Ure's vocal style in Slik). Slik were a Scottish people, Scottish pop music, pop group of the mid-1970s, most notable for their UK number 1 hit "Forever and Ever (Slik song), Forever and Ever" in 1976. Initially glam rock, the band later changed their style to soft rock/bubblegum pop, bubblegum. It was the first band with whom singer and guitarist Midge Ure began to experience musical success, before joining New wave music, new wave band Ultravox. The Bay City Rollers are a Scottish pop rock band known for their worldwide teen idol popularity in the 1970s. Ultravox
Ultravox (earlier styled as Ultravox!) were a British new wave band, formed in London in April 1974 as Tiger Lily. Between 1980 and 1986, they scored seven Top Ten albums and seventeen Top 40 singles in the UK, the most successful of which was their 1981 hit "Vienna". From 1974 until 1979, singer John Foxx was frontman and the main driving force behind Ultravox. Foxx left the band in March 1979 to embark on a solo career and, following his departure, Midge Ure officially took over as lead singer, guitarist and frontman on 1st November 1979 (despite writing and rehearsing with the band from April of that year) after he and keyboardist Billy Currie worked in the studio project Visage. Ure revitalised the band and steered it to commercial chart success lasting until 1987, at which time the group disbanded. ''Ghosts of Princes in Towers'' is the only studio album by British band Rich Kids, released in August 1978 by record label EMI. It was produced by Mick Ronson. Release and reception ''Ghosts of Princes in Towers'' was released in August 1978. The album featured their hit single "Rich Kids", which reached number 24 in the UK Singles Chart. Glen Matlock
Glen Matlock (born 27 August 1956) is an English musician, best known for being the bass guitarist in the original line-up of the punk rock band the Sex Pistols. He is credited as a songwriter on 10 of the 12 songs on the Sex Pistols' only album, '' Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols'', although he had left the band early in the recording process, credited as bassist and backing vocalist on only two songs on the album, " Anarchy in the U.K." and "God Save The Queen". Since leaving the Sex Pistols in 1977, he has performed with several other bands, including Rich Kids, who scored a UK top 20 hit with the single "Rich Kids" in 1978, as well as presented his own work. The Sex Pistols were an English punk rock band formed in London in 1975. Rich Kids
Rich Kids were a short-lived new wave band from London, founded in 1977 by Glen Matlock following his departure from the Sex Pistols. The band also included future Ultravox member Midge Ure and Rusty Egan, who both later founded Visage together. They released one album and three singles during their existence, from March 1977 to December 1978 (although the official announcement of their disbanding was not made until mid-1979). Rich Kids were amongst the foremost British exponents of the power pop style, blending influences from 1960s acts such as Small Faces and The Who with more recent punk rock sounds. Jim McGinlay
James Anthony McGinlay (born 9 March 1949 in Lennoxtown, Stirlingshire, Scotland) is a Scottish bass guitarist who formed along his elder brother Kevin a hard-rock band called Salvation, in Glasgow, which after numerous line-up changes included Midge Ure, future Ultravox frontman and Live 8 contributor, Billy McIsaac and Kenny Hyslop. By 1964, he began his musical career, forming The Strollers, along his brothers Kevin on lead guitar and Hugh on rhythm guitar and cousin Ernie Slater on drums, in which he played bass guitar. In the rest of years of the 1960s he was in another three bands, the last of them, the second with his brother Kevin, called Friendly Persuasion, which became famous. In June 1970, Friendly Persuasion disbanded and Jim and Kevin formed Salvation, a pop supergroup with Nod Kerr on drums, Mario Tortolano on organ, and Ian Kenny on lead guıtar. Slik (album)
''Slik'' is the only studio album of 1970s Scottish teenybop band Slik. Following the Bay City Rollers style, plus the ballads and pop of the time, Slik released two hit singles before the album, " Forever And Ever" in 1975, and "Requiem" in 1976, which oriented the band to the success and recognition in their native Scotland. At the end of 1976, punk rock emerged, and bands of the latter genre became popular, decreasing the popularity of established progressive or glam groups bands like Slik. Possibly for these reasons, the album was not well received. The band continued until early 1977, when Jim McGinlay left the band, being replaced by Russell Webb (later in The Skids and Public Image Ltd.), and the new line-up left the 1970s disco, soft and pop rock-oriented genre, moving to punk and changing the name to PVC2.
