Vladimir Blaževski ( mk, Владимир Блажевски; born 3 June 1955) is a Macedonian film director and screenwriter. Toni Mihajlovski ( mk, Тони Михајловски; born 1 July 1967) is a Macedonian theater, motion picture and television actor, stand up comedian, presenter and showman. Life Mihajlovski was born in Kumanovo, Yugoslavia on the 1st of July, 1967. After completing The Faculty of Arts in Skopje at the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje he became a member of the drama section in the Macedonian National Theater in 1994. The Republic of North Macedonia (known as the Republic of Macedonia from 1991–2019) has submitted 18 films for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film since 1994. The Macedonians also attempted unsuccessfully to submit a film in 1991, while they were in the process of trying to achieve international recognition as an independent state. Prior to independence, Macedonian filmmakers were active participants in the Yugoslavian film industry, and several films made by Macedonian filmmakers were submitted for Oscar consideration as part of Yugoslavia. The last instance of this was Stole Popov's '' Happy New Year '49'' in 1987. The International Feature Film award is handed out annually by the United States Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to a feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States that contains primarily non-English dialogue. This is a list of submissions to the 84th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has invited the film industries of various countries to submit their best film for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film every year since the award was created in 1956. The award is presented annually by the Academy to a feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States that contains primarily non-English dialogue. The Foreign Language Film Award Committee oversees the process and reviews all the submitted films. Nine shortlisted contenders were revealed a week before the announcement of the Oscar nominations. The deadline for all countries to send in their submissions was 3 October 2011. The submitted motion pictures must be first released theatrically in their respective countries between 1 October 2010 and 30 September 2011.
