Puawai Cairns
Puawai Cairns is a curator, writer and museum manager who holds a senior role at Te Papa, the national museum of New Zealand. Puawai Cairns is Māori and affiliates to the nations Ngāti Ranginui, Ngāi Te Rangi and Ngāti Pūkenga. Verb Wellington
Verb Wellington is an organisation that since 2014 has run an annual literary festival in Wellington, New Zealand called Verb Writers and Readers Festival. It was founded by Claire Mabey. Part of the festival is an event called LitCrawl which is like a pub crawl, across many venues (20 in 2022). In addition to the festival, Verb Wellington run other events; for example, it partnered with the British Council in 2023 to bring together Chris Tse (the New Zealand Poet Laureate) and Simon Armitage (the United Kingdom Poet Laureate) at an event called ''Does Literature Matter?'' at the National Library of New Zealand. Background Andrew Laking and Claire Mabey created the first Verb Wellington event in 2014. Atamira Dance Company
Atamira Dance Company is a Māori contemporary dance company in Aotearoa (New Zealand) based at the Corban Estate Arts Centre in Auckland. History In 2000, the company was founded from a vision of Jack Gray's for a collective of young Māori dancers and choreographers to present dance projects relative to their shared cultural heritage and perspective. The founding members were Gray, Dolina Wehipeihana, Louise Potiki Bryant and Justine Hohaia. The four met during 1999 while Gray and Wehipeihana were studying contemporary dance at UNITEC, subsequently becoming acquainted with Hohaia and Bryant at a tertiary dance festival. At that point Bryant was studying Māori Studies at University of Otago and Hohaia at Wellington's New Zealand School of Dance. Potiki Bryant went on to study at the dance programme at UNITEC.
