''Pterostylis woollsii'', commonly known as the long-tailed rustyhood, is a plant in the orchid family Orchidaceae and is endemic to eastern Australia. It has a rosette of leaves at its base and up to six transparent flowers which have unusually long tips on their lateral sepals and a reddish-brown, insect-like labellum. Description ''Pterostylis woollsii'', is a terrestrial, perennial, deciduous, herb with an underground tuber. It has a rosette of between six and ten lance-shaped to egg-shaped leaves at the base of the flowering spike, each leaf long and wide. The leaves are often withered by the time of flowering. Up to six translucent flowers with green and reddish tinges and long, wide are borne on a flowering spike tall. Each flower is carried on the end of a long, thin stalk. Whroo, Victoria
Whroo is a locality in the Shire of Strathbogie and Shire of Campaspe, Victoria, Australia,.. The locality includes the Whroo Historical Area state reserve. History The first inhabitants of the area were the Ngooraialum people. The first European explorer to enter the Goulburn Valley was Thomas Mitchell. ''Pterostylis'' is a genus of about 300 species of plants in the orchid family, Orchidaceae. Commonly called greenhood orchids, they are terrestrial, deciduous, perennial, tuberous, herbs found in Australia, New Zealand, New Guinea, New Caledonia and one Indonesian island. Rushworth is a township in Victoria, Australia. It is located north of Melbourne and, at the 2016 Census, had a population of 1,335. History Rushworth was established during the Victorian gold rush in 1853. It was named by poet and later local Goldfields Commissioner Richard Henry Horne in 1854. Its post office opened on 16 September 1857. The goldfields became no longer viable due to the underground water table and were closed during the gold rush.
