Franco-Provençal (also Francoprovençal, Patois or Arpitan) is a language within Gallo-Romance originally spoken in east-central France, western Switzerland and northwestern Italy. Provence (Provençal) wine comes from the French wine-producing region of Provence in southeast France. The Romans called the area ''provincia nostra'' ("our province"), giving the region its name. Provencal is a village in Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 611 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Natchitoches Micropolitan Statistical Area. Coushatta businessman and philanthropist Edgar Cason is a former Provencal resident. Geography Provencal is located at (31.654131, -93.200984). According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 2.5 square miles (6.4 km), all land.
