Radical Socialist Party (Luxembourg)
The Radical Socialist Party ( lb, Radikal-Sozialistesch Partei, french: Parti Radical Socialist) was a progressive Luxembourgian political party that existed from 1925 to 1932. It was the successor of the Liberal League, but, unlike its predecessor, it existed as an organised extra-parliamentary party, marking itself as Luxembourg's first true liberal political party. It was the predecessor of the Radical Liberal Party and, ultimately, of the current Democratic Party. When the Liberal League collapsed, the progressives reformed under Diderich's leadership as the Radical Socialist Party (the name reflecting its left-wing tendencies compared to its predecessor), whilst the old Liberals formed the ...

Independent National Party (Luxembourg)
The Independent National Party ( lb, Onofhängeg Nationalpartei, french: Parti national indépendant, german: Unabhängige Nationalpartei), abbreviated as PNI, was a populist political party in Luxembourg in the interwar period. The party was founded in 1918 by disgruntled members of the Party of the Right.Thewes (2003), p. 91 The most prominent of the founders was Pierre Prüm, who was appointed the party's leader. The constitutional amendments of 1919 introduced universal suffrage and proportional representation, strengthening the new populists' chance of winning both votes and seats. In the first election after the reforms, the party won three seats (out of 48) in the Chamber of Deputies, finishing a distant fourth; the dominant Party of the Right won 27 seats, allowing it to form the only stand-alone government in Luxembourgian history. In the election of 1922, the PNI increased its share to four seats, but fell back to three in the 1925 election. More importantly, the P ...

In Greece, the name and its derivatives are especially popular in maritime regions, as St. Nicholas is considered the protector saint of seafarers. Origins The name is derived from the Greek name Νικόλαος ('' Nikolaos''), understood to mean 'victory of the people', being a compound of νίκη ''nikē'' 'victory' and λαός ''laos'' 'people'.. An ancient paretymology of the latter is that originates from λᾶς ''las'' ( contracted form of λᾶας ''laas'') meaning 'stone' or 'rock', as in Greek mythology, Deucalion and Pyrrha recreated the people after they had vanished in a catastrophic deluge, by throwing stones behind their shoulders while they kept marching on. The name became popular through Saint Nicholas, Bishop of Myra in Lycia, the inspi ...
